Morpeth Sunday League

The Morpeth Sunday League was an amateur football league based in Morpeth, Northumberland. It was founded in 1969 and ceased to operate in 2023.

History

The Morpeth Sunday League was founded in 1969 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league initially consisted of 11 teams, but it grew over the years to include more than 40 teams. The league was divided into three divisions: Premier Division, Division One, and Division Two.

Morpeth Sunday League action

The Morpeth Sunday League was a popular competition, and it attracted players of all ages and abilities. The league was also a breeding ground for talent, and many players who went on to play professional football started their careers in the Morpeth Sunday League.

The Morpeth Sunday League ceased to operate in 2023 due to a decline in the number of teams. The league was unable to attract enough teams to field a full season, and it was decided to fold the league.
