Age-group provision for adult players

The minimum playing age is 35. Alongside its over-35 competition, the league also provides separate over-45 and over-55 football, giving clubs and players competition that reflects different stages of the veteran game.

History and sportsmanship

The league began in 1993 as a sub-section of the Mid-Essex League and became independent in 2002. Sportsmanship is part of its established identity: the David Thrift Trophy is awarded annually using a combination of referees’ sportsmanship marks and cautions.
