About Radio Com’s English Fire Service Competitions

Football for English fire services

Radio Com’s English Fire Service Competitions bring together football teams representing fire and rescue services from across England. The programme is distinct from local club football: teams represent their brigade or fire-service organisation in national service-sport competition.

The competition includes open-age and over-35s veterans football. Current participating sides include teams representing services in Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire, Devon and Somerset, Surrey, Essex and other English counties.

Service-team competition

Fire-service football teams can include men’s, women’s and veterans sections, although the English competition categories are determined separately for each programme. The English Fire Services Cup is part of the current open-age and veterans calendar.

Players take part through their relevant fire and rescue service or sports and welfare association rather than as independent local clubs. Fixtures and squad arrangements can change, so the competition record should be used for live detail.

Official information

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service identifies Radio Com’s English Fire Service Competitions as its competition route.
