Introduction

The Southern Amateur League (SAL) is an association football league in England affiliated to the Amateur Football Alliance. It is based in and around Greater London and caters for 11–a–side men's adult teams.

The SAL was founded in 1907 and currently has 20 divisions, ranging from the top-flight Senior Division 1 to the bottom-tier Minor Division 1. The league has a total of over 200 clubs and around 4,000 players.

The SAL is a competitive league and has produced a number of professional footballers, including former England internationals David Rocastle and Paul Ince.
