History

The South Lancs Counties Football League was founded in 1907 by a group of clubs in the Wigan area. The inaugural season consisted of 10 teams, and the first champions were Golborne Sports.

The league has grown steadily over the years, and currently has 4 divisions with a total of over 100 teams. The Premier Division is the top flight, and is currently contested by 10 teams.

The league has been home to some notable players over the years, including former England internationals Chris Kirkland and Michael Brown.

Current season

The 2022-23 season is currently underway. The Premier Division is being led by AFC Botanical, who are unbeaten in their first 5 games.

The other divisions are also very competitive, with several teams in contention for promotion.
