Match Summary
AFC Defib faced a clinical Lengers FC side in a fast-paced 5-a-side encounter. Despite controlling the tempo in the first half and creating numerous opportunities, Defib were unable to capitalize on their dominance, eventually falling to a 6-3 defeat.
First Half: Dominance Without Reward
AFC Defib started the stronger of the two sides, dominating possession and territory. Alexzander Attwell set the tone with his incredible work rate, sprinting up and down the field to link defense and attack. He opened the scoring for Defib following a sharp assist from Alfie Buck. Buck was instrumental again shortly after, forcing an own goal from Lengers' Slickback Gill.
However, despite the control, Lengers FC led 3-2 at the break. While Hari Morgan made several key saves to keep the game close, a few early errors allowed Lengers to stay ahead against the run of play. Matthew Hughes was a constant presence in the box, battling hard and creating a "load of chances," but the finishing touch eluded him in a frustrating opening period.
Second Half: Lengers Pull Away
The second half saw Lengers FC take control of the game. In the midfield, Mckenzie Jones battled bravely but occasionally found it difficult to track the rapid movement of the Lengers attackers as the game opened up.
Defib did find the net again when Harvey Kerslake, who was solid at the back all evening, pushed forward to assist Alfie Buck. Buck was a constant threat and was incredibly unlucky not to secure a hat-trick by the final whistle.
Star Debuts & Defensive Grit
A major highlight for AFC Defib was the performance of the substitutes. Tom Kennett enjoyed a superb debut; he looked exceptionally comfortable with the ball at his feet, working it well through tight spaces and carving out several good scoring chances for himself. His composure, combined with Kerslake's defensive display, provided a solid foundation despite the result.
Squad Performance
- Hari Morgan (GK): Recovered well from early errors to pull off some vital stops.
- Harvey Kerslake (CB): Strong defensive display and a well-earned assist.
