AFC HARE AND HOUNDS....2  BOYTHORPE....3

Despite a very disjointed performance, littered with mistakes and mishaps, Boythorpe came away from Highfield Park with ALL three points this afternoon, thanks to a man of the match effort from substitute Scott Bennett.

Hare and Hounds got the first real chance of the game after 3 mins, Bonson lost control of the ball in a dangerous position, but the striker lost his footing, and the chance was wasted. Bonson made ammends seconds later with a crisp long ball that Widerman was just unable to get on the end of and a defender saw the ball to safety for a goal kick.

A Shane Bennett free kick on 9 mins picked out Megyesi wide on the left, he collected the ball before putting over a fine cross that was headed out for a corner to the blues. They began to put a few moves together, and a fine move involving Brown, Bennett and Megyesi, sadly came to nothing.

On 17 mins the ball was lost in midfield by the Blues, and a fine snap shot went just wide. The hosts were beggining to get the upper hand by now and went close again on 25 mins, a great long ball out to the wing was crossed beautifully, but was headed wide despite the striker being well placed to score. On the half hour the visitors had their best chance when a free kick found Megyesi, who in turn found Bonson to cross, Wright bought the ball down, but Walton fired over.

The hosts took the lead on 31 mins, Bonson found himself in a 2 on 1 situation at the back, and the spare man slipped the ball past the advancing Hardy in the visitors goal. Hare and Hounds pushed forward and tried to add to the lead, and on 34 mins a long ball over the top had to be dealt with by the rock in defence Goodwin, who coolly played the ball to safety finding Bonson who cleared the ball upfield. HALF TIME AFC Hare & Hounds...1 Boythorpe...0.

At the break Benny decided to make a tactical switch, opting for a more adventurous 3-4-3, with Scott Bennett coming on up front, and the unlucky Higginbottom making way in defence. It seemed to make an instant impact, and on 53 mins Widerman rattled the crossbar after cutting inside and letting fly from 25 yards. Boythorpe still had to be aware at the back and had Hardy to thank on 56 mins, saving well after a defensive mistake let the hosts in.

The blues kept being thwarted, and moves broke down with slack passes and constant miss- controlling the ball letting them down again and again. Heads began to drop as it looked as if it wasnt going to be Boythorpes day, and this was forced home when Miles put over a peach of a cross, only for Widerman to miss by inches connecting with a full stretch diving header on 67 mins.

A throw in on 73 mins caused havoc in the home area but H & H cleared the danger. The break Boythorpe deserved came on 80 mins, a throw by Walton to Bennett, found Goodwin, who's fine curling ball in found MEGYESI coming in at the back post to head home. Boythorpe then did EXACTLY what they did the previous week, conceding a goal within a minute of scoring themselves, they AGAIN nodded off at the back leaving themselves short and the striker finnished well despite a great effort by Hardy.

Tempers were beggining to get frayed, and niggling, silly fouls were given away on both sides. On 83 mins the visitors drew level again after Wright scuffed his effort and in fell in the path of  SCOTT BENNETT  who prodded the lose ball home. They then pushed forward in search of an unlikly winner, and that came with just 5 minutes remaining. A corner was put in and again caused panic in the box, the keeper made a fine save pushing a shot onto the crossbar , but it dropped into the path of SCOTT BENNETT AGAIN  who controlled the ball in one move, before ramming the ball home for 3-2. The home skipper took exception and was RED CARDED for foul and abusive language. FULL TIME  AFC Hare & Hounds..2 Boythorpe...3
