Home league match played on 17 November 2013.
Kicked off at 12:30 PM

Today's game against spelthorne was our first against them since our under 7 season. They are a side who are well established in division one so again this was going to be another good test for our boys.
The first five minutes was superb with both teams attacking and defending superbly and this really set the tone for what was to be a superb game to watch, if a little nerve racking!!! It has echoes of Liverpool v Newcastle 1997! The breakthrough came for us when spelthornes defence struggled to clear the ball. The ball fell to Harvey on the edge of the box and his superb strike hit the top corner and gave the keeper no chance. Our defence then came into its own with Tyler and caleb snuffing out any spelthorne attacks. On the odd occasion they did get through max was well placed to save. We then doubled our lead. Some neat build up work through Alex and Harv set up Harrison and his neat finish into the bottom corner was superbly taken. Spelthorne then replied with a well taken goal that max could do nothing about. The end to end football continues and thankfully we extended our lead with the best goal of the game. A neat one two from Lucas and Harrison sent Lucas through, with goalie rushing out he managed to just get there first and finish powerfully into the top corner. The entertainment continues as again spelthorne replied with another great goal. The last action of the first half was another great goal for us. A strong run and shot from Lucas was well blocked by the goalie but the ball squirmed through leaving Harrison to smash the ball into a open net. A superb half of football
The second half was a bit of a stalemate until the last 5 minutes. both defences were on top with less chances being created. Harrison has a good chance when clean through but the dreaded bobble helped out and his shot went wide. Some superb play from Alex also set Lucas up with a chance but it was well saved. It wasn't all one way though and max made two unbelievable saves to keep the score at 4-2. He tipped one round the post and bravely dived at the centre forwards feet to stop him getting his shot away. With five minutes to go spelthorne got the goal that got them back into the game and set up a barnstorming last couple of minutes. Both teams working their socks off attacking and defending at will. Spelthorne forced several corners and even throwing the goal keeper up to try and get the equaliser, but it wasn't to be. The boys held out superbly with a real team effort. Credit to both sides who only had 7 players but every single one of them couldn't have done any more.

Max. Made two outstanding saves that preserved out lead. Bossed his defence well and always there when we needed him.
Tyler. Another outstanding game. Probably our most consistent player and a real rock at the back.
Caleb. Superb game from caleb. Defended superbly and passed when he could. Well deserved man of the match.
Alex. Terrific game. His work rate was unbelievable and showed some very neat touches in midfield. A real team player.
Harvey. Superb again. Some super skills and passing. His pass for Harrison's first goal and his strike for his goal were highlights of the game.
Lucas. Outstanding again. Set the tone for the whole team with his work rate and another superb midfielder goal.
Harrison. Fantastic game. Caused their defence all sorts of trouble with his dribbling runs and his work without the ball. Two goals were a good reward for his hard work.

Myself and Dave were over the moon with the game today. The effort and work the lads put in was excellent again. They should all be very proud of themselves. I know we are.
