Chestercity victorious over Legacy FC
Chestercity produce an outstanding performance by seeing off their league rivals Legacy FC 7-3.
Playing at Hua Yi Secondary School under a good cloudy weather, Chestercity’s Coach started with favourite 4-3-1-2 formation with Eizzul starting in goal yet again in absence of Safiuddin. The back four consist of Tushig at left back, Sufiyan partners Afizan in centre and Xavier get a rare start at right back.
Midfield trio was Herman, Faizal and Charlie with captain of the match, Izzat Hashim in the attacking role. City welcome back Aizam who spearhead City’s attack with Airul. City was missing Tam, Stanton in defence, Ruzaidi in midfield and the injured, Azhar who was nursing his bruised ribs.
It’s a great share of possession in the first 5 minutes, both teams showing their attacking display. In the 2nd minute, Izzat through pass found the feet of Airul but the striker shot went wide. City threatened to take the early lead. 2 minutes later, it was Legacy’s turn, their low pass found the striker whose shot was comfortably saved by Eizzul. Good save by the youngster.
In the 7 min, Xavier repays his coach’s faith by winning the ball off the winger and sends a wonderful chip through Airul who blasted the ball pass Legacy’s goalie. 1-0 up.
2 mins later, Aizam superb mesmerizing display of footwork found Izzat on the right and he slots it pass the onrushing veteran Legacy’s goalie. 2-0 in the 9th minute. City was ruthless and was unlucky to add to their tally when Izzat’s header was over after a great team build up. Every single attack down the left flank by Legacy was dealt by Xavier who produces one his best game in City’s colours. Afizan was also on top of his game with tackles flying and cutting off crosses goalbound.
Then goalkeeping error by Eizzul saw Legacy pulled a goal back. It was a routine catch for Eizzul but the ball slips from his hands and hits his knee which bounces to the Legacy’s striker who scores into the empty net. 2-1 in the 14th minute.
In the 18th minute, referee awarded City a penalty after the ball struck the unlucky’s right back arm. He then waved away Legacy’s protest and stick to his decision. Up steps Charlie who slotted home to the bottom corner where Legacy keeper was rooted to the spot. 3-1.
City then extend their lead when yet again the ever green Charlie sends a cross deep into the opponent’s box with Airul outjumping his marker to head City’s 4th goal in the 28th minute. City’s top scorer was booked for his shirtless goal celebration.
With that goal, Legacy pushed forward. 2 min later, Legacy beats the outside trap and the forward low drive was saved brilliantly by Eizzul who sticks out a leg to stop that shot for a corner.
City was not done yet, 7 mins before halftime, Airul through pass released Aizam free and the speedy striker makes no mistake from close range. 5-1 to City at halftime.
2nd half, couple of changes saw Syaikhan replacing Tushig, Jelson on for Herman, Hafiz on for Sufiyan and Defender Rohaizad replacing Eizzul in goal for 2 weeks in concession. City began to slow down the tempo as the sun began to shine down on Hua Yi turf. Legacy fighting spirit saw them score their second goal after a long range shot saw Rohaizad rooted to the spot. 5-2
City then replace Xavier who received a standing ovation from the City’s bench for his outstanding performance.
Legacy began rallying the players with still to play for but was punished as they pushed high up forward.
City counter attack was started in the middle of the field and with Airul one-two with Aizam who then provide a telling low cross to Faizal who scores his first goal and City’s 6th goal of the match.
City then makes changes which saw Irfan replacing Afizan who is carrying a knock. City’s coach revert the formation to 3-1-3-1-2 playing 3 at the back with Faizal as holding midfielder and Irfan playing on the left wing. 2 mins after coming on, the youngster picks up a loose ball and tries an audacious lob but was comfortably save by Legacy keeper. The youngster did not stop there showing maturity by playing string of passes to Faizal and Aizam.
Legacy fighting spirit saw them at their final goal in the 77th min with a good taken header. 6-3.
With stoppage time played by the match referee, Airul cemented the final goal and his hattrick with 2 min into stoppage time when he volleyed the ball into the net after Legacy’s defence fails to clear the corner
Final score at Hua Yi Sec, 7-3 to City.
City’s coach commented after the match,” We needed the 3 points and in the first half we totally outplayed our opponents today. It’s something the lads believe before the match. With Charlie back from injury and Xavier on fine form, the lads put on a great display of attacking football where Aizam was sorely missed last week. Izzat also showed why he is the best playmaker in the league and with his form right now, there’s no stopping him. With Airul banging in the goals, I can't really see why we can't win the title. I really hope the lads will continue this form against others in the league. We are here to win and with Teban Thunder winning 3-2 against JFC, it has blown open the title race.”
