It had everything lads today’s performance, passion, goals, desire, yellow cards, red cards and almost the ultimate comeback.

The first half had us match a great ex-prem team for 42 mins. I say 42 because the 3 times we didn’t pressure the ball they scored. True the traffic was a little one way; Thorpe had a great start Dom Binns was creating a shed load, John Cox was giving us a hard time and we struggled to find any pass or real rhythm. We spoke about it and then second half we exploded. We should have really got some thing from the game and for the last 25 mins Thorpe were holding on to anything as we did to them what they did to us in the first half.

We had attempts, a series of chances; Lee B going just wide, we hit both posts the cross bar. We had a number of headers flash by Dan S was unlucky not to score, it felt like the Rochford game where what ever we did we were never going to get it in the onion bag but at least the character of this team wasn’t to blame for the score.

To the second half then and we were aided of course from the Red card incident but in general our play and our football were far improved in the second half. We had all good finishes for our goals with perhaps a shock contender for goal of the season from Joe M; Being 12 yards out and finding space he coolly dispatched a volley into the near post, after controlling with his opposite foot. My description will never mask the quality or the amazement of the event but it’s definitely a contender.

I was a little upset we didn’t get anything from the game but I suppose we ran out of steam, we also ran out of games this year this is our last till the New Year God knows what we will be like then. Not to much Christmas revelry and who knows this bad run might end. Our next game is away to Ashingdon a tough one to have as its looks to me that they will be top and flying when we meet them.

This team has nothing to worry about in this division, I have said it numerous time lads but this year we have 8 new players, a new manager, new style of playing and we were promoted into a tough and higher division. To be honesty when I sat on the league panel to pick the sides after the leagues got chopped around I felt we had a hard year ahead but everyone has acted brilliantly and with a little focus and glue we will be fine this season and look to push next.

We are building a quality side with a quality future, we need to be patient and determined and then we will get the right results. Happy Christmas see you in the new year.
