Away league match played on 30 October 2010.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

This week we were over at the wind tunnel that is Garons against an inform side that had won their last 3 games.

More changes from the previous week’s game with Gary back in goal and Matt and Dean starting after playing well last week.

We started the game well and should have been in front within 5 mins if Dan hadn’t have put the ball over from 5 yards (Dan had earlier told me he fancied his chances for a hat trick this week!)

We went in front after some good work from Dean down our left with Martin who then put Luis through, Luis then produced a little piece of magic and lobbed the keeper to put us in front. We continued to press for a 2nd and nearly went further ahead when Luis shot hit Rick and the massive deflection sent it passed the keeper and into the net. Rick was off heading towards the crowd celebrating like he had just found another child’s birthday card on his round. (he is a postie if you don’t know) only for the ref to disallow it for offside. After our good start we lost our way with the ball running away from us in the final third and too many players not playing the easy ball and losing possession.  This gave Trinity more of the ball and they had a couple of chances to equalise as we lost our shape, the defence and midfield were too deep leaving Martin isolated up top on his own. Trinity finally did get a goal when Dal got caught on the ball after and the striker nicked it off him and smashed the ball in from 20 yards into the bottom corner giving Gary no chance.

Trinity were always going to tire in the second half and we finally starting to pass the ball better and get it wide bringing Ryan and Ad into the game, it helped that they were down to 10 men and we could bring on some fresh legs with Gav, Adam and Eddy all coming on and making an impact. We went in front when Gav put Luis through and Luis got his 2nd (his 8th in 5 games). We added a 3rd when Luis got brought down in the box and Dal slotted the penalty home, Gav scored his 1st of the season to make it 4 after Eddy’s long throw found him unmarked and he poked the ball in from close range. Ad then made it 5 with a neat finish from just inside the box.  Trinity got a consolation goal near the end but we won without playing at our best.

Well done lads
