First game back and I want expecting to much from anyone. Christmas break can affect teams in many ways so it’s always a game I never expect to win; it was made harder then with top of the table Ashingdon away. I felt we started great; we were good going forward and offered the opponents a lot of problems. So much so that Ashingdon had to play on the break and never looked like a team looking to win the division.

Once again we did let the opposition score first; a loose ball in the box was easily dispatched and then grew in confidence. This was matched with our determination and 3 minuets after they scored we did. Dean W won the ball in the middle of the park, slid the ball to Loui R who dispatched it well. We then went on the offensive and pegged them back for the next 10 mins. Loui R had a volley saved, Lee B was denied by a great diving save, Adam H had 2 headers saved on the line, Ashingdon were rocking.

We looked the better team, they were playing on the break and I felt we were coping well, defensively we were stretched on occasion Sam had to clear of the line and Nana had a hard time with a dangerous player. So when we went down to the 30 yard screamer I felt it was a little unjust, Brad made an error but that happens, he was under the weather and had to be replaced. 2-1 Half time should have really been perhaps the other way.

We replaced brad with Karl and to be honest we lost a little shape looking for the equaliser but that’s what we had to do. So when the opponents drove down their right hand side crossed the ball for a tap in it did feel like we played into their hands. The attitude remained and we still created but it wasn’t to be our day. 4-1 after the keeper got rounded and then 5-1 (25yard drive) made the day seem long and worthless but I feel it did prove something. We can’t afford to chase the game we need to concentrate as a team and not as individuals. We also need to support each other going forward and backwards or we will find teams getting undeserved wins.

Everyone looks fit and everyone looks up for it so we need to really start to come together so we can get our just desserts. Little theatre club is the next opponent at home. We haven’t played them so I’m sure they have looked at our results and think they are going to walk over us. Nothing more needs to be said than it’s our reason to make sure we get the right result and finish the right way around.

Some good performances were out their today lads lets keep up that level and even try to raise the bar so we can get a bit more of this confident play into our game.
