A three week football exile ended today with a miserable day, wind rain and general poor conditions. Through this ‘delightful’ match we grew and in the end through this match we were in the end only just held…. B.K.S did take the lead and Brad made a double save from a penalty but in all honesty we were better than our opponents and should have come away with the points.

Chances were few and far between in the first half, against the wind and down the hill was a challenge, B.K.S were dangerous on the break but that could have been because we were a little off the pace in the first half. Second half though, boy what a change. B.K.S took the lead against the run of play when they broke down our right, created a slide rule ball past Big Joe and the striker obliged willingly, our keeper no chance.

Then we had a complete change, we kicked into gear and took control, creating chances for Lee B on a number of occasions, Loui M also smashed the bar, Killer drove against a wall of defenders, Loui R also had half chances, combine this with our series of corners and I feel justified to say we finished stronger and should have won the game. We had a goal disallowed for offside but B.K.S in return as mentioned missed a pen which may have killed us off, so big thanks to Brad today in goal who came up with some good stops. The one in the first half also 4 mins in nearly caught us cold but his fast reactions gave us a solid platform to build.

This wasn’t just a second half game; in the first half we had grit and determination. Killer, Joe, Lee B, Dean W all gave everything in my eyes. Our communication was poor but that got better in the second half. Our subs also offered towards our result. Nana was solid when he came on for a tiring Joe, Martin got an assist when he crossed for Hat boy to finish with a smart jumping header and I felt Loui M changed the game also coming on and creating merry hell. His afore shot was only just denied by the angle of the goal but what a cracker; the resulting rebound was looped over the keeper by Lee B and smashed off the line but the covering defender.

Bouncing back to the first half for a sec, I feel we needed to slow the ball down a little we were hitting the striker to fast; this gave us poor possession and allowed B.K.S time to build. We need to put that right next week away to Little Theatre Club they play at Eastwoodbury Lane, we owe them also, so lets go out to prove ourselves right. We need to show them we are better than them, it’s obvious to me but they are not going to roll over.

This game leaves us with three to play then as mentioned a cup competition, were looking to get maximum out of these remaining games lads. Also a little thanks need to be mentioned lads, my forfeit now has come to an end, and you’ll need to but up your own nets till that winning streak is returned.
