Away league match played on 29 January 2011.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

Another win today but boy did we make hard work of it. Yes the conditions were bad, the the pitch was heavy, the ref was dire and the wind freezing (and half the team were hung-over) but they were not a good team and we had to defend for the last 30 mins to gain the win.

We started the game a bit better than previous weeks (it must of been the warm up, don't worry I will come up some more girlie warm ups for you next week!) or maybe the fact that we had just witnessed a dog take out its owner knocking his arse over tit. We still managed to go a goal down, we had the better of the earlier chances and possession but we were just a little too slow to close down their player for the opening goal. I think he was a little bit lucky and it was a swing of the boot rather than anything else but Gary had no chance as it went into the top corner.

As soon as they scored we started to knock the ball about and raise our game, we equalised after a fair amount of pressure forced a corner. Ad scuffed the corner kick a little but it seemed to take most people by surprise except Dean who run in and put the ball into the net. We continued to dominate the midfield with Dan & Jack getting a lot of possession and creating chances, we went ahead when Luis scored his 6 in the last 3 games. The ball come to Dean who miss controlled slightly but it fell to Luis who stuck away into the corner from the edge of the box giving the keeper no chance. I am not sure what happened to the rest of the half after that but we seemed to go to their level and the ball spent the rest of the time in the air.

Simon came on for Dal at half time and we battled against the wind and soaked up the pressure looking the more likely to score even if it was in the break. Dan had a powerful header saved by the keeper’s feet, Dean had a couple of chances and maybe should have done better with only the keeper to beat. In the end we battled hard and got the win, sometimes you have to and its good to see that we can do that as maybe earlier in the season we may not have hold on.

There were some really good points from today and I was really pleased with the back four in the fact that we looked solid and the partnership between Eddy and Chris is really starting to look good. The team spirit is improving but you do need to speak to each other on the pitch, you do enough of it in the changing room and when I am trying to talk !!! You’ll be pleased to know that there is more chance of you winning the lottery than of us having that ref again this week.

This week’s man of the match was Chris who was strong throughout and kept the defence organised during the 2nd half when we needed it.
