The score says most of the tale of this encounter; we took the lead and rightly led at half time. After the break we just stopped and allowed Thundersley to win the game, again. All I have to say is that a 60 minute performance isn’t good enough and wont win you this or any other game. You all have to do better.

It wasn’t just the nature of our surrender that has me frustrated but the score line also; we lost to 10 men after the opponents got a man sent off 5 mins into the second half. We conceded 4 goals in the second half to 3 long balls; finally we couldn’t maintain the good work we started against the top of the table side.

In the break down of it all we see that I’m not the only guy frustrated at our lack of commitment and focus. Most of the players are showing signs of frustration and yet we all allow this to happen. I called for passion and communication we got yet another quiet second half retreat. I called for aggression and determination we gave yet another limp second half performance. It’s not just everyone as an individual we now need to consider it’s the team and the team must come first.

Some people might feel that everyone played bad, that would be wrong. Others that one or two had a bad day again this would be an error. It’s the way we do now not trust each other with the ball or in a tackle. It’s the way we don’t support each other and play as a unit that is killing this year’s effort. So how do we fix it?

We start again; we build once more we look to the good performances and raise our own levels to match the efforts of those players, to add to the whole rather than to the individual. We keep fighting for each other, work for each other and then we will win for each other. We need to start doing this or all that hope and promise will go by the wayside.

Our start was stronger today than any other part of the campaign, we were best all throught the first half, we didn’t concede after we took the lead and we clearly played better football than we have all year. These are the pluses. The things we need to work on any part of the second half, period.

We need to keep applying pressure to the ball; defenders need to be more vocal and determined. Some one needs to find a voice and we all need to be raining in the shots and thinking about every opportunity to do so.

Failure to do these things will give me the opportunity to change the personnel again, to try to find the right mix and to tinker with the team. I’m not going to change it because you all have proved you can play this and a higher level, but I need to micro manage things a little more because im starting to wonder if you all have forgotten what it takes to win a game.

The next game shouldn’t of been but has now turned into a big, big game. Home to Old Southendians, a game we won 3-0 in the cup. Let’s pick up some points and let’s start our season and see where it takes us.
