Home league match played on 27 October 2013.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

DCS continue to do well in the league as they beat Henley YMCA for the 2nd time this season. For the 2nd game in the row DC started the game brilliantly and kept possession of the ball really well, although Chris Hutchings performed a rather late challenge and had to use his puppy dog eyes to avoid getting booked.

We got the ball wide and got in several threatening crosses but no one was on the end of them. We looked more and more threatening and our goal came from Tom Wilson, winning possession in their half and letting lose a trademark rocket.  We continued to press and our midfield trio of Tom Wilson, Mike Stepney and Luke Buckley worked really well to cover all areas of the pitch and win the ball back when we lost it.

Our lead was extended when Mike Stepney's quick feet in the Henley box resulted in him being chopped down for a clear penalty. Ide stepped up to smash in the back of the net, sending the keeper the wrong way.

The 3rd goal was slightly fortunate as Tom Wilson provided a short ball for Stepney to strike from range with his left foot. The effort should have been easy for the keeper but the ball found its way through his hand and between his legs. LOL!

H/T 3-0

DC probably had the game in the bag already and with a 4th minutes into the second half it was game, set and match. Tom Wilson provided a cross for Sam Hall to head into an open net. Jay Pitchford, Brad Gibson and Jonny Clifford were all brought on to get a piece of the action but the whole team played as if the game was already won, which it basically was, and we lacked the cutting edge.

Henley for the first time in the game started to apply pressure on our defence and signs were showing that they could get a goal. Much to the annoyance of the defenders and Paul Moore a ball over the top was converted preventing Steamers from our first clean sheet.

Steamers got another goal soon after to cancel out any chance of a fight back with Jonny providing an assist to Dan Ferris, who converted a smart volley from a tight angle, to get his first of the season.

Henley got another goal late into the game with a smart lob that left Paul Moore with no chance.

60 minutes of the game was fantastic but we did take our foot off the gas for a large part of the game. Still a great win and I believe we will be hard to beat if we continue playing as we have.
