Home league match played on 28 September 2014.
Kicked off at 9:45 AM

DC Steamers played in their best performance to date against an Earley Roebuck team who should have the potential to cause trouble for other teams.

The opening 10 minutes was all Earley Roebuck. A sluggish DC Steamers following a 30th birthday for Sam Wyatt meant we got outplayed and a punter would never have backed us. Some great tackles by Hutch and Ryan, plus some saves by Hemley (playing his debut in goal) kept the score sheet at 0-0.

Our fortunes turned with un-steamers like HOOOOF! Owen Temple hooked the ball between the Earley Roebuck centre backs. Almost a whole minute went by with them stood still before Jonny thought ‘I could score’. He glided past the statue like centre backs and rounded the keeper to make it 1 up for the Steamers.

Jonny was quickly in the goals again when the ball ran to him in the box and he smashed it bottom right. Earley Roebuck went into melt-down to the likes I have never witnessed in Sunday football. For a team that started off brightly they ended up moaning and began to play a 40’s like formation with 2 at the back. From this moment we destroyed them.

The only real downside to the game was Morgan Treglohan picking up a back injury. The captain for the day had to retire and may spend a few weeks on the side.

Bert Ryan replaced him and got straight into the action. His shot was too hot to handle for the keeper and Owen was there to put away the rebound.

Jonny Clifford scored a first half hat-trick as Ide provided him with the ball, from the right hand side, for him to pick out the back of the net. Half-time was approaching but we weren’t done with the goals. Stepney scored a SCREAMER! Ide cut the ball back from the right for someone to dummy onto our full paced Walrus near the edge of the box. The keeper had no chance as he hit a 90mph strike, top bins.

H/T 5-0 DCS

At half-time we made one change as I (Fookes) went off for Ben Morris. Another nut-meg would have been too much to take.

Steamers started the game as they had left off and the goals kept on coming. Ryan Horton, Andy Hutch, Sam Wyatt and Borris looked composed and won every tackle at the back, making it easy for our boys in the middle and up top to get the glory.

JP was subbed on for a bruised Courage and made an instant impact with a lovely assist to put Owen one-on-one. Owen, who was in superb form, cooly slotted the ball past the keeper.

Roebuck somehow got a goal after their RB/RW/CF bloke tried crossing the ball to find the top left of our goal, bollocks!

PENALTY!! Owen got raped just inside the box but with his eye on a hat-trick he went from rolling around on the floor in pain to placing the ball on the spot. Our goal vultures, Jonny and Ide, conceded that they would have to wait another day. Owen sent the keeper the wrong way and claimed his first hat-trick for quite a few seasons, congratulations.

Everything was going right and we cut Earley apart with every break of attack. On one occasion the ball was crossed in about a yard away from the goal line, the keeper assumed it would be yet another conceded as an Infant disabled baboon couldn’t miss. But he has never met our nose picking centre midfielder before; as he went on to completely fuck it up. The miss was that devastating that a goalkeeper, who had already let in 7, felt sorry for him and picked him up off the floor.

Owen was having a right laugh down the left-hand side and assisted an OG after it deflected off a defender into the net.

Jonny capped of a fine display with a lovely goal. He saw the keeper off his line a guided a 30 yard effort right into the top corner to finish off the game.

9-1 to the Steamers and MOTM performances by everyone, BUT Owen got a hat-trick and a load of assists so he gets it.
