Mighty fine display from facelad,

Facelad went into this away fixture with good spirits as they finally found themselves playing after what seemed like an eternity away. Facelad tried to play there way into the game to brush off any rust from their time off. However with the home side packing out the centre of the park and the pitch not being great Facelad could only find joy in wide areas with Scott and Lawrence finding some good space to pick passes and make some positive runs forward.

With Gash up top Facelad constantly looked to catch the mighty fine defenders out by clipping balls over them for the loan striker to chase. Despite Aldermans and Shaws best efforts these clipped through balls weren't quite coming off for the side.

With Both teams putting in a physical display Facelads J.Clynes dwelled on the ball and mighty fine broke quickly. They drove on towards Facelads box before Stuart shaw put in a challenge which the ref deemed to be a foul, from the con-sequencing free kick mighty fine gave Facelads men the wake up call that was clearly needed from a lack luster start as Comerford made a decent save.

Finally Facelad battled well in the middle of the park with Barton playing through J.Clynes who showed great maturity and composure to slide past a helpless keeper. 1-0

Half time.

Mighty fine came out in the second half holding nothing back creating chance after chance forcing Comerford into saves to and after a few good blocks and tackles Facelads defence could hold out no longer, J.Clynes trying to do a flick on the half way line leading to josh Knott losing out in a 50/50 had mighty fine on the attack, winning a free kick on the edge of our box. Goal, mighty fine skipper hitting across the wall and finding the back of the net from 25 yards.
Facelads player/manager R.Comerford decided his team needed a change of pace, the substitution of coffer for Knott led to a change of formation for the faceladders which worked wonders. They changed to 4-2-3-1 with Alderman moved into midfield and Lawrence continuing to be a great outlet pass for the midfielders Facelad soaked up pressure and broke against the side well on several occasions through alderman and Clynes link up play. Lawrence's twisting runs down the left also saw Facelad cause problems, it seemed to only be a matter of time before a goal went in. With alderman winning the ball on the edge of the box releasing Clynes with a great pass wide Clynes beats the full back to strike but was harshly fouled. With a change in free kick taker alderman strikes but ends up putting the free kick wide of the mark.

Finally the goal arrived as Southgate struck the ball on the edge of the box, a deflection saw the ball fall perfectly for Barton to give Facelad the lead again beating the keeper with power.

But the chances kept coming for facelad with alderman striking a volley just over, then Barton forcing a save and finally alderman hitting the post Facelad closed out the game in a professional manner batting down the hatches.
Not the best of performances but perhaps the side can be forgiven for being a little rusty and still coming through with 3 points.
