Away league match played on 17 April 2011.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

So the season has come to a finale with the last game being a vital game vs WPTs in a winner takes all game, but us having the advantage of a better goal difference so knowing a draw will still win us the A league.

We started with sam, toby, josh and ryan s on the bench.

Everyone was in high spirit going into the game in perfect weather there was a brilliant turn out and support with over 100 supporters there to cheers both teams on and you could cut the atmosphere with a knife.

Both teams started the game with confidence both going for the opening goal, pushing forward and putting defenders under pressure but without much being created due to both defences being solid and cutting out any attack and the midfeild working hard to retain possestion.

The first chance fell to kieron on 10 mins after alfie had slide through a brilliant ball cutting the defence apart sending kieron through one on one but due to the pressure of the chasing defender pulling at his shirt he scuffed his shot into the keepers arms, but just 6 mins later in the 16th min kieron found himself clear again out on the right lifting his shot over the keepers head but could only find the top of the bar.

Lewis and charlie were both solid in the heart of defence and jack was domanating the center of midfield along with smithy and cameron, while olly and ryan n were doing well tracking back at right and left back to stop any crosses being floated into the box, max and kieron both had fairly quiet first halfs due to being tightly marked and alfie was constantly putting there center backs under pressure.

The first half was end to end but mainly all football being played in the middle of the park and not long before the break a hard challange from the WPTs attacker left lewis on the floor and gave us abit of a worry that he may of had to of been replaced, but after a little bit of treatment he was able to continue.

The first half finished 0~0 which still left us in charge but the game wide open.

We made one change at half time with toby replacing smithy in center midfield due to an injury he picked up in the first half.

The second half we came out alot quicker than WPTs the confidence of the lads had grown after a pep talk at half time and in the 33 min, just 3 mins after the restart we took the lead through leading scorer kieron, with alfie putting the defence under pressure he lifted a ball into the box which there defence failed to clear, falling to kieron he turned and lifted it over the keepers head to put us 1~0 ahead and send the lads and supporters into a frenzy.

After that WPTs started to create abit more pressure trying to stop us playing football as both cameron and max were getting more space and joy down the right hand side and kieron getting more space over on the left, but WPTs resulted to the high ball to put our back line under pressure but we stood strong and cut out any and every attatck.

We replaced ryan n on 40 mins for sam and in the 42 min a late but not bad challenge from olly resulted in a free kick and a booking for olly which was our first of the season and a very harsh one for the ref to give, but after a talk to the ref he choose to resind the booking, but the damage had been done and his confidence had been knocked and as he was trying to compose himself a ball was lifted over his head catching him the wrong side and with there attacker going through he couldnt get back in time and the on rushing billy could not prevent it going into the back of the net to make the score a nervy 1~1 on 45 mins to make it a tense last 15 mins.

It became a tight game with WPTs knowing a goal would win them the league and us knowing a draw was enough but another goal would end any chance of a WPTs come back and with 5 mins to go both teams had there chances first WPTs had a chance with billy spilling the ball it was heart in the mouth moment with the stricker rushing in but billy being the brilliant keeper he is was quickest to react smoothering the ball at the WPTs attackers feet, then we had two very good efforts on goal first the impressive jack cut across the defence an unleashed a brilliant effort that looked like it was flying into the top corner, but the keeper got finger tips to it turning his shot onto the post, the ball was temporarly cleared with lewis loading it back into the danger area, WPTs then failed to clear leaving kieron to have a shot which was well saved by the keeper turning it onto the post, but alfie kept up the pressure winning us a corner with just mins to go.

He played it short with kieron with the words hold up play and keep the ball being said running down the clock to see out the game, then came the sound we were all wating for the final whistle and the crowed errupted and the lads jumped with joy the season had came to an end and after all the hard work, dedication, commitment, team work and brilliant football we were rewarded with becoming the A league winners in are first 11 aside season.

Man of the match could of gone to a number of players but after his tiredless performance in midfield it went to jack who had a great game, as did everyone else out on the field.

A big shout out to ryan s and josh who didnt get on the field due to the way the game was unfollding it was a hard choice to make but the right one as it was the team who had to come first and they are all a major part of the team regardless if they play or not they all hav worked hard and deserved the reward of becoming CHAMPIONS......

Well done lads you have all made every moment coaching you worth while and i couldnt of asked for a better bunch of lads and parents, know its for tour so lets take on the good run of form and make it another peice of silverwear.

UP THE HAWKS A LEAGUE CHAMPIONS :)
