Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Hemlington Social Club FC raised to the challenge on a miserable cloudy morning . The manager was keen to see how debutants goal keeper Damo and centre back Jake Bennett would perform .

Hemlington looked dangerous from the off with Joseph McKenna and Paul Jenkins went close in the early minutes but it was on the 9th minute when Hemlington took the lead , Dan Caney battled through three players with the ball bouncing through the legs of the defending players and he managed to toe poke the ball to Joseph Mckenna on the left who then drove towards the box with the ball sliding it into the path of Dan Farnaby who finished confidently 1-0 Hemlington.

Star hit back on the 12th minute when a corner led to a mass scramble and failure to clear allowed Star to poke home 1-1.

Instantly from kick off Hemlington took the lead after Dan Caney played a weighted ball to Joseph McKenna on the left wing and he dribbled into the box cutting onto his right foot and striking across goal to make it 1-2 Hemlington 13th minute.

21st minute Star n Garter strike broke the offside trap and burst onto goal but Callum Roulston outstreching tackle inside the box brought down the forward for a penalty which was converted sending goal keeper Damo in the opposite direction 2-2.

Hemlington refused to buckle and attacked with Matty Nelson N Paul Jenkins going close to regaining the lead but it took until the 31st minute from a Hemlington corner , Joseph McKenna crossed in to the 6 yard box for Dan Farnaby to rise and header into the net 2-3.

Again Hemlington attack and Joseph Mckenna again coming close to scoring hitting the post and cross bar but it was Dan Farnaby who had the final word of the half picking the ball up at the left side of the D at the edgeof the box dragging the ball back onto his right side and lashing an un-stoppable shot to score his hat-trick 2-4.

Second half and changes were made when Lee Carr and Ste Chilver came on for Matty Devine and Mark Roulston on 55 minute.

On the 61st minute Star got back into the game as a scramble in the Hemlington box fell nicely for a un marked Star Forward to tap in at the back post 3-4.

Hemlington Final change cam as Captain Richard May was subsituted for lewi Mondal who slotted in at right back and Captaincy went to Paul Jenkins.

Chances Came and went with both sides going close with Lee Carr and Dan Caney efforts getting cleard off the line to keep the score line tight until the 80th minute when a counter from defending a corner Dan Caney played a long ball over the top and into the the Star half for Joseph Mckenna to pick up the ball and dribbling into the box with the Star defender stuck between having to defend against Joe or picking up un-marked Lee Carr ,Mckenna took full advantage picking his spot and lashing the ball into the net 3-5.

On the 88th minute Hemlington secured the points as a Hemlington corner was not dealt with the ball dropped to un-pressured Captain Paul Jenkins to side foot into the net 6-3.

That was'nt the finish tho a dejected Star attacked trying to maintain some pride and on the final attack into the box the Star forward was brought down and appeals for another penalty went un answered as advantage was played and un apposed Star striker finished neatly to make the final score 6-4.

Mentions have to go to Keeper Damo ,Paul Jenkins ,Dan Caney and Joseph Mckenna who were outstandig but Man of the Match went to Dan Farnaby after scoring three and his defensive work rate through out the game was superb..
