Sun 19 Sep 2010  League Linthorpe FC 7 Lakes United 1   Lee Thomas (1)

What a day this was going to be, get out of bed it rains, cant find boots and cant get into car becuase keys have gone missing, oh the joy of sunday league football.

Lakes turned up with a less that convincing side of which clearly 3 of them should have been side lined due to really bad performances the week before. never mind that though, lakes had 13 players and the assistant manager to get the game up and running.

Lakes were away to linthorpe at mill hill on a slightly declining field with the rain slowly getting heavier and heavier.

Lakes didnt even get out the starting blocks in the first half and found themsleves 3-0 down in just 10 minutes by sloppy defending and not closing down enough, something that is occuring week in week out.

Mention must go to tommo with a 1 on 1(saved) and jimbo for missing a 1 on 1 (going wide). I think there was only 3 shots on target all game and they came from the defence.

Lakes went into the half not scored and to be honest not even looking like they would, 5-0 at half time.

2nd half looked a little better when a bit of nice play found the linthorpe team on the back foot, only for the ball to be cleared, lakes kept the momentum and in the words of the linthorpe striker, "if you had someone who could finish, you would be hammering us".

Lakes sloppy play later in the game found big gaps all over the pitch and with aaron going to ground and getting injured the centre backs found themselves out of position and not being able to get back in time. 6 goals for linthorpe.

Lakes did manage to get 1 back which lee thomas scored through a strike of lewis only for the keeper to parry into the path of tommo.

MENTION MUST GO TO LEE ADDISON - Donkey of the day

He spat his dummy out, the child protection are still looking for it in the mud, shouted at davy (assistant) to get him off and basically was a T*T (My own words).

I can only apologise for my behaviour and it wont happen again.

Michael gibson came on and managed to get stuck in at centre back for lee. However in the words of Jake " there is a few salad dodgers in our team" the back 3 (Minus aaron) didnt look like getting out of 2nd gear, and that is being generous.

Linthorpe managed to get their last goal later on with a scramble which looped over the diving nathan cooke.

MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED ALL OVER THE PITCH.

ALL PLAYERS TO BE AT THE TRAINING/ HOME PITCH ON WED FOR A GOOD DEFENSIVE SESSION.

Donkey of the match - Lee Addison
