Home league match played on 03 December 2023.
Kicked off at 9:30 AM

?? London Colney Colts U9 Blue ??Vs ??Alexandra Park North U9 A 9:30 kick off and as it was silent Sunday we were doing a combination of meditation exercises and passing round gaffer tape in anticipation of the challenge. Some of us even thought we were supposed to shout positive encouragement (makes you wonder what we are normally up to) so there was some practising of “splendid” “marvellous pass” etc…. But that was all for nothing as it was actually a required silence (or whispered instructions as we were all of the opinion that the boys actually need our help - although they seem to have faired very well without it, disproving this theory).

The first five minutes passed with Colts dominating possession and making fine passes between each other. The opposition were showing strength too. Five minutes in and a nice piece of play saw the ball kicked out from goal by Jonas, collected by Oscar, cleared by Alexandra Palace and then played up the line on throw ins by Alby and Henry before a throw in towards the box from Alby, a pass from Henry to get the ball into the box and a strong kick to slide the ball past the opposition goalie. ??Oscar (Henry assist)

4m ??1-0??

Alexandra palace started to put some pressure on. Jonas had to make a tricky save and defence was working hard. Some more great passing between Alby, Cian and Henry resulted in a chance and another between Arthur, Oscar and Cian resulted in a fantastic shot that hit the far post just missing out on another goal. Then the opposition brought on a late arriving sub (after cards) who was a couple of feet taller than our boys. A free kick against us resulted in a ball into goal and the first touch for the sub was to pound it into our goal.

12m ??1-1??

Alexandra Palace kept the pressure on and after a couple of minutes in our half and a number of saves by Jonas, we took their chance while everyone was at our end. Jonas caught the ball and gave it a powerful kick up to Oscar at the half way line, Oscar dribbled it past the defender and scored from the wing straight into the top corner of the goal. ?? goal Oscar (Jonas assist)

17m ??2-1??

Never allowing us to get too far ahead Alexandra palace had a strong striker who took the ball straight back to our box and some mistakes in defence let them through for another goal.

18m ??2-2 ??

Not wanting to lose our lead we went for a pre half time goal. A ball from goal was played to Alby who took it up the left wing where he was tackled winning us a throw in. A strong throw to Oscar in the box and a great finish for hat trick! ??Goal Oscar (Alby assist).

21m ??3-2??

HT

The second half saw the opposition looking to even up again and Jonas made yet another great save followed up with more strong distribution showing all the keeper training is developing his talent well. After making a couple of saves the equaliser landed.

27 m ??3-3??

The pressure stayed on the Colts and there was some great defending from Cian and George. Passing between George and Cian got a chance for the Colts with a good touch to it from Sufyan just missing going over the goal line. The game played in both ends for much of this half with chances for both. A distribution from Jonas gave us our final goal, a drop kick to centre line where Alby picked it up through the left wing and shot from the wings straight past the keeper and into the goal. ??Alby (Jonas assist)

42m ??4-3??

A penalty kick was given against us at 21minutes with the opposition looking to equalise again, Jonas had a good presence in goal and it went over the goal.

The last 4 minutes gave us more chances but also some stressful times.

Full time ??4-3??

Great play this week with strong passing skills and excellent goal keeping showing the development of our team.

Trainer of the week -Ziyad Man of the match - Cian and Sufyan

Award for parents staying silent - we did our best: close but no cigar. Despite trying to lead the witnesses the boys actually said they liked the silence without our loving support on the sidelines.
