Frustration is the word i am using a lot lately as Dendy lose they 5th league game in a row by a single goal and leaves them rock bottom.
I have had great faith this season as we at times have had an excellent team to choose from. My worry now is a lot of these players for one reason or another are not playing leaving a handful of good regulars to carry the flame. My worry is we will end up unable to hold onto them.
The shape was good again today. We defended well. The lack of quality on the ball up front showed up badly today as Ant struggled without an outlet player to help him. Lack of forwards is starting to show up with the league cup semi next weekend.
Tarperley were not a better team and we should have been able to beat them. Their goal came from the Dendy weakness at a corner with a free header deciding a game where a goal always looked likely to decide it.
Do we play best available or play the regulars ? A question i have used for a few years now. Yes we have a great bunch of lads and a good banter after the games. But to play Saturday football you need to know who is a player and who plays when we are short.
Plus points
Adam and Jack in front of the back four is working. Scott is improving. Perry was steady in goal. We competed.Ant up front was an outlet even through he was starved of service
Minus points
I said on the sideline if they score i don't know where our goal will come from. Trying to give players game time. I understand why but it weakens the team sometimes. We lacked a player today who is comfortable on the ball at the front to help Ant. We also miss a wide player who can take people on like Luke.
Next week is the semi against Winnington. I agree that they really rely on Freddy up front and we have seen in the past keep him quiet and we have a chance.
Man of the match was Adam in midfield who is playing well with Jack.
Donkey was sickbed Bails for getting injured again without even kitting up.
