Finally we performed!!

First half we looked a bit rusty (understandable after the xmas break) but saying that still passed the ball round and made some good chances.

Littlebourne rarely troubled us and Ian had very little to do.

Dan was injured fairly early on (have to say, had a strong game before getting the ankle injury) Dan was replaced by Liam. Liam slotted into centre mid and Neil went to right back.

We took the lead late on in the first half, a corner won but Lewis and taken by Hugo. Hugo knocked the ball towards the back post where the salmon Luke jumped to head home. He’d like me to put down bullet header, but in truth I think he had his eyes closed and the ball hit him. The ball was headed into the floor and bounced over the keeper.

So we went into half time 1-0 up but well in control of the game. We did need to take our chances and chat more which the boss pointed out.

Second half – must be the best we have played all season, ok the opposition wasn’t great but we played our game and passed the ball well.

We were so in control of the game we had 6 forwards for most of the second half so goals were going to come.

The second came from a good move down the left with Ben then Jim, fed into Adam to slot home. May have taken a deflection off a defender or two but still 2-0.

Soon we were 3-0 up, Jim this time scoring with a tap in. Some great work from Liam and Hugo. The pitch was rubbish but we were still playing some great pass and move football. Liam and Hugo both playmakers spreading the ball to the wings – although when both went forward it did leave some holes in front of the defenders. Thankfully Littlebourne didn’t give us any problems going forward.

The defence was solid probably the best defensive display all season, Luke and Neil calling the line and organising.

Ian made a great save, to keep a clean sheet knocking the ball onto the post from the edge of the area.

Ben who deserved his MOM put in a world class challenge to stop a certain goal. Lost his man in the first challenge but got up, caught his man and threw himself at the ball. One of the best tackles I’ve seen all season.

4-0 came with a class goal, some great pressure from our forwards forcing a poor clearance. Liam on the edge of the area placed a curly shot into the top right corner – great goal.

We could have won this game in double figures, our play in the second half was awesome and we need to continue playing like this. With Dave and Mike to come back too – there is going to be a fight for places.

We rapped up the game with a fifth goal. Hugo swinging in a great corner for the keeper to flap and Kaylem to score, drilling home into the roof of the net. JOB DONE!!

Well done everybody – anyone of you could have been MOM a great team performance.
