Away league match played on 16 January 2022.
Kicked off at 11:00 AM

Our first game back following the Christmas break was a tough match against a organized Woolton Beckenbauer, the pitches also looked like they had not recovered.

The game kicked off on time and both teams set about trying to take possession of the ball early on but the class and confidence of the Di Stefano team was clear to see. Archie and Uday didn't let the opposition settle whenever they got the ball an. I didn't take long before we started to make some good chances and Oliver was first to break through and have a real clear chance. following some closing down and quick passing we got Oliver into the box and from about 6 yrds out he tried to place his finish but left it too close to the keeper which meant he could make an easy save with his feet. Not long after this we had another chance from drew getting down the right and getting a good ball into the box, George was on the end of it from about 6 yrds out but again the goalkeeper seemed to be like a magnet t the ball and managed to make the save and the ball bounced away to the opposition to clear. Uday then had a great effort from outside the box after working his way in from the wide right area, this time the keeper dived full stretch to the right and managed to tip it away for a corner.

HALFTIME 0-0

It was clear at the start of the second half that the team started to think they would not get the goal they fully deserved and that the GK for the opposition was going to shut us out. for the first 15 mins of the second half we looked a bit desperate and started to overcommit in the hunt for the goal and left some gaps that the oppo started to make use of and get in at our defence however the back 4 remained a solid until and kept them at bay. With a bout 15 minutes to go Connie drove at the full back down the left wing and managed to cut in and go towards goal, she took a shot with her left foot and tried to place it in the far corner but again the GK managed to tip it away but this time Oliver was quickest to react and tapped it into the empty net. 1-0

Shortly after from a goal kick George managed to win the ball back and somehow work the ball out to the right winger Jack T, Jack quickly went at the full back and got in behind the defence. He took everyone by surprise with an early shot which thundered into the far corner and wrapped up the game. 2-0

We still had a few nervy moments were we let Beckenbauer get in behind us as we started to lose concentration and they hit the bar off a corner and also the post after some scrappy play inside the box. Overall it was a one sided match but it does show how if you don't take your chances the result can easily go the other way.

FULLTIME 2-0

Next up is Romario who just so happened to get the win in a game that we dominated and didn't take our chances, hopefully this is the lesson we needed before this important title clash.

POTM went to Uday for his full game work rate and continued efforts to get the ball moving forward for the strikers. Also worked really well in partnership with Archie.
