Monread V Naas – Sunday 29/04/2018 – Result: Monread: 1 – Naas: 0 Greg: Stand-in goalie come hero (almost). Very alert, distribution and kick-outs strong. Kept us in the game with a string of fine saves. Unlucky with the injury time goal. MotM. Rating: 9/10 Neil: Played well and kept his discipline. Marshalled the right back role well. Jumped in a few times when jockeying was a better option. Tired towards end of game. Rating: 7/10 Conor (Nolan): Looked a bit out of sorts at left back. Didn’t lack effort but allowed Monread in behind on his side a few times when out of position. Will be better in a different position. Rating: 5/10 Mark: Not fully fit but gave a solid performance. Very strong in air. Timing a bit off on some tackles. Fitness will improve future performances. Rating: 6/10 Matty: Very composed at the heart of the defence. Made some crucial tackles and clearances. Making that centre back role his own. Rating: 8/10 Rob: A little isolated on the right wing. Put good shift in but lacked composure when the ball came his way. More patience and belief in ability will improve future performances. Tired towards finish. Rating: 6/10 Aido: Alternated between left wing and left back. Put good shift in. Caught out of position the odd time and could have been stronger in the tackle. Looked dangerous going forward Rating: 7/10 Liam: One of his better games. Distributed and showed well for the ball in midfield. Caught a few times in possession in congested areas but was most effective when laying off the ball and looking to have it back. Growing in to the role. Rating: 7/10 Conor (Foley): Powerhouse performance in midfield. Looked hungry for every ball and put in several heavy but fair tackles in midfield. Will need to be at full match fitness level to put this performance in every week. Inspirational. Rating: 8/10 Ben: One of his less influential performances, yet almost came good to open the scoring (against the run of play). Drifted in and out of the game. Started poorly but got much stronger as the game progressed. At times drifted too deep when opposition committed three at the back permanently. Needs to be in game for 90+ minutes. Rating: 7/10 Aero: Looked lively at start but tired. Will contribute more to team’s performance by being more aware of loose players around rather than trying to go alone. Rating: 6/10 Brian (replaced Conor Nolan – 32nd minute): Showed good energy and ran the left flank well. Caught out of position on a few occasions but looked strong going forward. Match fitness will undoubtedly improve future performances. Rating: 7/10 Alex (on for Aero @ half-time): Showed great energy and awareness. Got into the pace of game quick. Made a real nuisance of himself and got great opportunities. Linked well with Ben to almost create the opening goal. At times drifted too deep when opposition committed three at the back permanently. A good performance and a very good option up front. Rating: 8/10 Archie (replaced Mark on 62 minutes): Got into the game very quickly – and had to. Worked well with Matty and cleared dangerous situations on more than one occasion. Match fitness will bring improved performances. Rating: 7/10
