Home league match played on 29 November 2008.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

Saxmundham V Bacton

The game today was played on a very wet and heavy pitch with the weather being cold but dry.

Sax kicked off and we started well with Rossi forcing a save out of the keeper in the 3rd minute. It was all Sax to start with and Rossi put a ball into the Box and with John not being able to turn he backheeled it just wide.

Rossi was soon on the run again and he got himself into the box and the keeper denied him again. The boys were getting wound up by things that were going on off the pitch and unfortunately let it get to them we lost our shape and discipline for a while and we had to make a change with Ollie replacing John so that we could get him out of the firing line. Us losing our discipline gave Bacton a lift and they put us under pressure the defence and Jack worked hard and done well to keep it at o - o. The boys got a bit of their shape back towards the end of the half and Rossi made another run down the right but the keeper denied him again. The half finished with us playing better again and starting to settle but I was happy when the ref blew for Half time so that we could sort ourselves out.

Half Time 0 v 0

2nd half

After a few stern words at half-time and the boys being reminded that we are there to play football and not get involved in any sillinesss off the pitch the boys went back on with Zach replacing Andy.

The boys started to play football as we know we can and after 3 mins Rossi crossed a lovely ball in for Ollie to head in to the net which surprised us all as Ollie is not known for his heading, Unfortunately the occasion went to Fish's head and his over exuberant celebration in front of the visiting fans meant that we had no choice but to replace him with Jake. Jake and Zach were both playing well and we were having most of the play and the pressure paid off when Rossi was set up By Ollie to make it 2 - 0. 1 minute later Kyle played a brilliant ball to Rossi who scored his 2nd of the game 3 - 0. 1 minute later Rossi was on the run again and his shot was too hot to handle and Zach following in at the back post tapped in to make it 4 - 0. we kept pushing and were lucky not to get caught out  the back 4 and Jack worked hard to keep the Bacton attack out and dealt with all that came their way. On 22 the ball fell to Ollie who unleashed a fierce shot that dipped over the keeper to make it 5 - 0. That goal killed the game off and it is a shame that this game will be remembered for the wrong reasons. It is a thing that we will use as part of our learning and we will have to try to get over people trying to wind us up.

Well done to the boys for rising above all that was going on on the sidelines and in the end letting our football do the talking. See you on Thursday for training ready for the sutton game where I hope we can move on from this week and get another result.
