Away league match played on 11 December 2010.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

The game was played today on a brilliant pitch and considering the weather we have had the morning was not too cold and it was dry.

Despite a good warm up for the lads and Bombers only having 10 players at the start of the game the home team looked lively and only a good save from Jack in the 2nd minute kept the scores level. Bombers kept pushing and their 11th player turned up and went straight on. The lads were given no time on the ball and the home team were causing us problems. Sam gave away a needless free-kick wide on the right just level with the 18 yard line, a good ball was put in and it was knocked in to the net, Jack had been fouled and the goal didn't stand but acted as a warning that they shouldn't take the opposition lightly despite their league position. Over the next 10 minutes the lads started to get their game going and had several chances to open the scoring, it wasn't until the 19th minute that we did get the 1st goal Arron put a corner in and after a scramble Kyle bundled the ball over the line. Then 3 minutes after that Rossi got the ball after Luke played a good ball in to Arron and he curled a shot in to the top corner that gave the keeper no chance. The lads at the back settled down after a shaky few minutes at the start of the game and Tom in particular made some great challenges and done well getting forward and getting balls in to the box.

Half Time Martlesham Bombers 0-2 Saxmundham Sports

The 2nd half started with the lads pushing for more goals but the quick closing down was making it difficult to get their game going but we knew that if we kept going and rotated the lads that sooner or later the home team would tire. Rossi got the 3rd and 4th goals on 57 and 59 minutes after some great work by all the lads and keeping calm in front of goal. Arron scored a great goal from outside the area with his left foot and then 2 minutes later set Ben up to finish from inside the area and then again Arron set up Luke for number 7 with a corner. We were desperate to keep a clean sheet but a Free-kick on the edge of the area for the home team looked likely to ruin that until Jack got himself across well and made a great save. The home team didn't give up and it is a credit to them that they kept trying despite only having the bare 11 and some of them were not fully fit.

The lads did well today with Kyle earning the MOM with his all round play and his goal, next week will be a tougher test at Ransomes and the lads will have to raise their game a bit if we want to do the double over them this season and I am sure they will be doing all they can to prevent that.

Well done lads another clean sheet and 7 goals scored Rossi getting a hat-trick will hopefully mean he has found his shooting boots and he will start scoring for fun again the same as he did this time last season.
