Home league match played on 07 November 2009.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

The game was played on a well prepared pitch that Karl had spent several hours on Thursday and Saturday before the game making sure the lines were nice and bright. The weather was kind with the overnight rain moving out to leave a bright clear but cool morning.

The game started off with Arron making his debut in the middle to replace Kyle who was regretting his yellow in the previous game. We started well and were putting Sporting under pressure and on 6 minutes Gok got the ball on the edge of the area and put it into the bottom corner past the Sporting keeper to make it Sax 1-0 Sporting. Sporting got back into the game with some hard work and was looking the most likely team to score. Too many of the lads were having an off day and Jack had to work hard to keep us in it. The goal came when a long ball from the keeper caused problems in the area and a Sporting player put the ball over Jack to make it Sax 1-1 Sporting. The other incident in the half came towards the end when the ball fell to Connor on the edge of the area he hit a shot that struck a sporting player on the arm he went down straight away and it was clear he was in a lot of pain. The ambulance came and took him to Ipswich where he had his arm pinned and plated late on Saturday afternoon we wish him a speedy recovery. On the restart we put Rossi on and he had a good chance to make it 2-1 with his 1st touch but it went wide. Half time came and the boys got a bit of a rocket as they seemed to not be up to our usual standards.

2nd half

Sax went out and were still not up to what we have come to expect and sporting were taking advantage and pushing on. The pressure came good for Sporting in the end and they went ahead Sax 1-2 Sporting. The lads seemed to start to wake up and we had several chances and were forcing the play the equaliser came when Arron put in a corner and Connor popped up at the back post to score with a back heel and make the scores level. The goal seemed to wake the boys up and Ryan soon made it Sax 3-2 Sporting When he twisted and turned in the box and put the ball past the keeper. Then Rossi gat a goal when the ball came to him after a Sax shot and he had a tap in Sax 4-2 Sporting. The Lads done well to get back into the game after some poor play at times and we will have to work harder than that in the cup next week if we want to progress.

Well done to Sporting as they didn’t look like a team who should be bottom and playing like that I am sure the first win will soon come. We played poorly today and got the 3 points and I am sure the lads will want to raise their games over the next few weeks. We are 3rd in the league and must not get complacent as we have a lot of hard work to do to stay there.
