Home league match played on 08 December 2013.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

I'm only joking !!!!!  Brereton are by far the better footballing team - and The boys were fortunate to get a draw against a very good girls team.

The two sisters are pivotal to Brereton - and after the last game - We did not learn anything.

2 girls BOTH  had excellent ball control - one in midfield found a pass, the defensive sister had a HUGE throw and was the first to every clearance to repel the ball back into the Starlands half. Maybe without those two....it may have been different ?....but we struggled to get any real possession in their half or any real goal scoring opportunity.

Saying that ...a 2-1 loss against a very good savvy team - who were quick to knock the ball on from throw ins and play the ball wide - was not a bad effort at all.

Kieran had a ver assured display at right back - whether that was because it was less running or he was nearer the hot chocolate?...but he was challenging every ball. He got stuck in , he didn't moan or give in...and showed real effort! he made some timely interceptions and tackles and was Parents Player. Well Done!

Ben K was given back to back Man of The Match Awards - for a great display - keeping the boys in the game.

Luke had his award...and was keen to show off a Joe Hart shirt he picked up at the recent WBA game....piccies to follow.

Brereton were straight into the game....and a failure to clear from a throw in required Ben K to pull off a  save and then a rebound save too.

The forwards were dropping short to help out - consequently there was no-one upfront to hold up the ball.

A quick ball through the midfield pair of Marcus and Tom split the defence - and the striker ran through to bury the ball in the top corner....Great goal ! 1-0 to the visitors.

This was then  followed  up by some nice tight work in the corner by Callum who found Josh on the edge of the box who let fly....it looked like a top corner effort?...the keeper dived....the ball then hit Oski and deflected into the net !!!  1-1 ....against the run of play the boys were back in it.

Aran and Kieran were having a good defensive game. Tom , was also playing his part - albeit at times it looked more like rugby ! but his effort at the back matched that of his pal Marcus.

Half time came - and Starlands were still in the game.....

Brereton again flew out of the blocks....a shot from the edge of the box was flying in the top  corner..somehow Ben K dived and got an outreached hand to it...to tip it wide.

The fans were nt sure it was a save and were moaning about the referees decision of a corner...however - it can be confirmed it was a save. However, despite a top class save - from the resulting corner - Brereton scored. The first shot was saved and although it appreared Ben had hands on the ball - the Brereton striker was more committed and given the benefit of the doubt as he kicked the ball  in the net...2-1.

The boys battled on bravely - and their best effort was a ball played through by Zak to Callum who crossed - the goal beckoned...Josh had time but took a big swing and missed...the ball fell to Luke who also had a shot which went wide.

To be fair Brereton played the more attractive and controlled football....Ben K came off his line and saved three 1 on 1 plays....All the boys played their part...and despite the result can take satisfaction that Brereton will be very close to winning the league...so a draw and a 2-1  loss are commendable.

Next week the boys play at home again.....no Ben P who will be doing his Karate gradings for Black belt - We all wish him good luck!
