Home league match played on 15 September 2013.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

The boys were hoping to build on the success of last weeks game - and put together back to back wins for the first time ever !

To be fair, the visitors were up against it from the off , and Starlands started off where they finished last week.

Once again, the boys look assured at the back - whilst upfront were stringing some passes together.

Most of the first half was played in The Darwin half, yet the boys could just not finish..and when they were on target the goalkeeper was like a magnet for the ball.

Eventually, Starlands took the lead - with a bit of a goal mouth scramble - and the ball falling nicely to Ben P...aka BP who calmly slotted home for his first goal for the club.

Starlands, then had to shuffle their team around with Jed struggling with a knee injury.

Darwin broke free, and with the striker bearing down on goal - BEN K came of his line and spread himself making a fine save. This proved pointless as Darwin were first to reaxct and slotted home the equaliser with BEN stranded on the floor...and for once the covering Marcus was unable to save the ball off the line. Unlucky !

The half time whistle blew...and Starlands  were lucky not to have given away a penalty, when Zack found a dose of aggression and put the striker on his backside just on the edge of  the box??..phew. However, the referee decided it was 50/50 challenge.....so well done Zack !

The second half, saw a revitalised Darwin side - and with the Starlands defence a little out of position and the midfield pressing forwards and struggling to get back...Darwin took hold of the game.

They scored a 2nd from Starlands failing to clear a corner first time....It aint difficult....IF IN DOUBT....KICK IT OUT !

The third was a good team goal, they worked the ball down the exposed right wing and crossed it for the striker to slot home first time ! No chance for the keeper.

Starlands carried on...and Callum was rewarded for his efforts and endeaviour...with a lovely ball from Oscar and Callum calmly finishing.

Marcus was everywhere at the back - and was back to his best ! covering every inch of grass.

Luke was showing some nice skills down the wing...and Oscar linked up with everyone...All that was missing was that final shot.

Kieran went on one particular rampaging run...and his passing in midfield was very controlled.

Lewis came on - and made a nuisance of himself - but the ball would just not sit up for him to strike

Callum had a few shots - but every time we shot at the keeper.

Eventually with the score 3-2 and Starlands pressing for an equaliser...Darwin broke away and scored the fourth right on the final whistle.

No way did the boys deserve that score line - but once again...as the match went on FITNESS and PACE was DEFINITELY LACKING in THE STARLANDS TEAM.

If the match was based on the first half...No question...Starlands would have won. ;)

Better luck next week boys.

Man of The Match was awarded to BEN K .....but, great games from Marcus and Callum were also worthy of note..if not the award ! Which wasn't handed out because its BOST !
