Away cup match played on 13 October 2012.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

What a great game of football as it always is against Marston Green.

It all started so brightly after a couple of minutes when "super Charl" ran through to slot the first goal of the game passed the Marston Green Keeper.

Although we were having all the play in the Marston Green half of the pitch 2 quick goals saw us put on the back foot after 15 minutes but still having the lions share of the play.

Some great movement and passing between Grace, Issey, Neve & Charlotte led to a number of chances but the Marston Green keeper was playing well making some good saves to keep us at bay.

Neve finally finished well with a nice low shot across the keeper to bring the score back to no more than we deserved at 2-2.

After some nice work by Charlotte, Issey gave us one of the greatest "What happened next " moments, Charlottes great run & shot was well saved by the keeper but the loose ball dropped to Issey who struck the ball well only for it to hit the base of the post & land back cleanly in the MG keepers arms while she was still lay on the floor.

Only Issey could manage this !!!

Maria was not feeling well at half time so a change was needed between the posts, Issey stepped forward to to fill the gap even though it is not where she wants to play.

The second half was another hard battle with us having the baulk of the game but were not managing to find the back of the net, Issey did not have much to do but did pull off a brilliant save diving away to her left to push the ball away from goal ( It took me back to watching Peter Shilton as a lad !! )

Charlotte, Amy & Neve all came close with shots on goal & even after 5 or 6 corners back to back a goal would not come, even with all the pressure we were heaping on MG the defence was called into action a few times with MG playing on the break Cassie was immense getting forward when she could but getting back again to get some brilliant challanges in.

The game was headding to extra time the same as last years semi final against MG when a quick break saw Grace lay the ball off to Charlotte & off up the pitch they went quickly joined by Neve, i didnt really expect Charlotte to lay the ball of for one of the others to take the glory and she didnt shock me by doing so but sent the team into screams of delight as she slotted past the keeper to put us 3-2 up.

The goal came less than a minute from the final whistle so not giving MG a chance to throw everyone forward in search of the equaliser.

This was possibly our best performance of the season with everyone showing fight & desire to win.

I must single a few out for an additional pat on the back, Charlotte for the winning goal. Grace for her usual but amazing hard work, Cassie for her hard work at the back & Issey for agreeing to cover for Maria in goal & her brilliant save.

Well done girls you should all be really proud of yourselves for a great "Team" performance.
