Tenisons III hosted Clissold Park Rangers 2nd at Archbishop Tenison's School Sports Ground #1 on 6 May 2026, with kick-off at 7:00pm in a league fixture. The home side fought valiantly but ultimately succumbed to a 3-2 defeat after a closely contested 90 minutes.
Deploying a traditional 4-4-2 formation, Tenisons III set up with Anes Papazachariou in goal, protected by a back four comprising Sam Gleeson at right back, central defenders Jack McCarthy and Tom Minns, and Dre Robinson on the left. The midfield line featured Sean Smith on the right flank, central duo Liam Mepham and Garth Foley tasked with controlling the middle, and Marcus Edwards operating on the left wing. Up front, Oliver Dodson and Billy Zeqiri led the attack as the two strikers. This setup was designed to balance defensive solidity with width and attacking options, expecting the wide midfielders to support both defence and offence, while the forwards looked to capitalise on chances created. Christian Hall was named among the substitutes.
The match began with both sides probing cautiously, but it was Clissold Park Rangers 2nd who broke the deadlock in the 31st minute, taking the lead on the road. Tenisons III responded well and found an equaliser just before half-time when Marcus Edwards fired home in the 41st minute, restoring parity and setting up an intriguing second half.
At the interval, the scores were level at 1-1, reflecting a competitive encounter. Early in the second half, Clissold Park Rangers 2nd regained the advantage with a goal in the 58th minute, putting Tenisons III on the back foot. In response, Tenisons III made a tactical change three minutes later, bringing on Christian Hall to replace Marcus Edwards, perhaps seeking fresh impetus on the left side.
The visitors extended their lead further in the 74th minute, making it 3-1 and placing significant pressure on the home side. Despite this setback, Tenisons III showed resilience and pulled a goal back in the 86th minute. Sam Gleeson’s precise assist found Oliver Dodson, who finished confidently to reduce the deficit and ignite hopes of a late comeback.
However, despite their efforts in the closing stages, Tenisons III were unable to find the equaliser, and the match concluded 3-2 in favour of Clissold Park Rangers 2nd. The home side’s 4-4-2 formation provided a solid framework, but the visitors’ clinical finishing proved decisive in this tightly fought contest.
