Home league match played on 02 September 2012.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

2 minutes extra time played.

This match was our first kick off of the season and it showed early on, with a thin squad and people having to play out of position and me having to pull on the pink shirt to play in goal, things werent really boosting confidence.

The things that didnt go in our favour were apparent early on and after conceeding early on we responded in around a minute when Mark Healey played in C Dixon who battled hard to finish the chance, and got the score back to 1-1, the game was full of mistakes and in posession it has to be said that The Legion were the better team making it easier for themselves when they had the ball.

We took the lead and gained the advantage at 2-1 with some great play out of defence from Mark healey, a through ball played by J Nicholls and was then finished with aplomb by A morley, a great goal on the break.

The second goal to the away side game from a free-kick that was only parried wide by our keeper and then hit home at the near post, which levelled the score back to 2-2.

At 2-2 the game went a bit cagey and the ball was being given away a lot by both teams, the 3rd goal again came to the Legion who scored after a runner broke from midfield and was left solo to hit the ball accross goal, a real sloppy goal to give away and again gave us work to do to get back into the game.

The goal was pulled back minutes later again when J Nicholls delivered a deep corner to the back post for M Mett to jump clear and score with a well timed and well judged header to beat the crowd in the box and the man on the line.

The 2nd half started and we soon got a foothold in the game creating plenty of chances and oppertunities which we either couldnt finish or had stopped by defenders on the line and The Legions man of the match their goalkeeper who kept the score level and made some fantastic stops to deny us a 4th and a 5th goal.

The legion responded and soon after a penalty was awarded after a scything tackle took down a player in the box, after a protesting A Steel was sent to the car park the penalty was eventually taken after a lengthy break and was not worth the wait and hit wide.

The momentum of the game had shifted though and the last goal and deciding kick happened on the left with a curling shot from the left hand side of our box which curled straight into the top corner.

All in all its a poor result for us especially when we will undoubtedly face better teams than this in the league this season, the Legion deserved the win though as they beat us when we were playing poorly and thier 4th goal was a stunner. We need to start playing to our strengths if we are to do well this season, use the possession better when we have it and work harder when we dont, we looked leggy today following runners and picking players up that were breaking from posisitions.

The eagreness in our tackles was outstanding today but lets be a bit more wise about where we decide to wipe players out.

The Man of the match award for todays game was awarded to M Mett with a good performance at the back and a well taken goal to add.
