Home league match played on 10 April 2011.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Well Done to not just the people that played but were involved, was a cracking team effort topped off with a season defining result.

We started off well and had most of the play but when the ball dropped to Eaglescliffe on the edge of our box around the 20minute mark they found the net totally against the run of play.

We continued to chip away and after a brief spell of us having to pick our heads up were were back to being in control. A massive throw in was taken on the right side by C.Hall that wasnt dealt with by Eaglescliffe and luckily fell to Blackburn who lobbed the keeper to the far post to make it 1-1 and get us back into the game.

The wind was well and truly knocked out of Eaglescliffes sails who after that goal didnt look like they wanted to be involved in a game and dropped their heads.

Shortly after with us being ontop in the game again we bagged the second goal after another throw in was taken by healey and flicked on by Dicko to play in morley who sent the keeper the wrong way.

We went in at the break full of confidence after battling back from a goal down to be ahead.

We were knocked back straight after half time though with a bit of flat footed defending, after they had a chance which Adam saved and we stopped and didnt react quick enough to stop the lad slotting home and making it a game again.

The game was played out till the end with us having the better play and chances and after a late chance was cracked against the post by C.hall then fell to Morley whos shot went just wide from the rebound looked like we'd play out the draw.

The 93 minute was an eventful one though after Morley flicked the ball over the Eaglescliffe centre back who didnt deal with it, C. hall pounced on the chance to finish early past the keeper and put us 3-2 ahead after a belting team performance. With only 30 seconds of the game left to play and no way back for Eaglescliffe.

A massive result and one that was well and truly earned after a few people put their bodies on the line and have a few wounds to show for it.

A.Steel in goal didnt have much to do in the game and when called upon came through with saves, i think i counted they had 4 shots on target most outside the area, which is good when we can limit teams to this. The defence was pretty solid and done well all game. The midfielders were excellent and linked up well the front 2 and the wingers in morley and blackburn ran themselves into the ground both on and off the ball, with a goal each.

A massive well done though to the lads that worked all game upfront and won headers flick-ons, tackles, and provided the cover for other players to grab their chances.

Dicko was isolated at times but won a lot of balls and held it up when we needed the ball to stick upfront and Shatty was excellent at tracking back and filling in at midfield when he needed to. In my opinion these two need a massive mention and pat on the back for their work that they put in all game for little credit. It did not go unoticed and dont be worried about not scoring because of your work others did.

Josh N was chose as man of the match.

Shout out for Mett who took a clothes line and healey that had to be subbed off, both substitutions were forced but the lads that stepped in done well.

A massive result for us and should really set the standard for how much we should work week in week out for each other, it was class to see, especially when we've a Semi-final coming up and the chance to win the league and reach a cup final in only our second season.

COME ON THE LION!!!!!!!!!!!!!
