Tiki Taka Dortmund travelled to Atherton Town FC on 16 April 2026 for a league away fixture kicking off at 6:00pm, where they secured a commanding 4-1 victory over Atherton Town Panthers in a 70-minute contest. The match, overseen by referee Kiean, saw Dortmund overturn an early deficit to dominate proceedings and claim all three points.
Tiki Taka Dortmund lined up in a classic 4-3-3 formation, deploying Kamsy Anajemba in goal behind a back four of Inno Maoneo at right back, Archie Hunt and Lawrence Nwakamma as central defenders, and Brajan Staszkowicz on the left. The midfield trio consisted of Noah Rule on the right, Zac Leach centrally, and Zac Humphries-Deveney on the left, tasked with both defensive duties and supplying the front three. Up front, the attacking line featured Sonic Leung on the right wing, Favour Ajumobi leading as striker, and Alex Maoneo operating on the left flank. The substitutes available were Yasin Mohammed and Finley Barlow.
Dortmund’s defensive resilience was evident from the outset, with Lawrence Nwakamma blocking a dangerous attempt in the 5th minute and goalkeeper Anajemba producing a crucial parry just a minute later to keep the scoreline level.
Dortmund’s build-up play was orchestrated from the back, highlighted by Archie Hunt’s long pass out wide at the 8th minute that created a promising chance down the right wing. Sonic Leung’s cross into the box set up an opportunity, though Favour Ajumobi’s initial attempt sailed high. It was Atherton Town Panthers though who took an early lead in the 10th minute, capitalising on a brief lapse of concentration in Dortmund’s defence. Defensive solidity was maintained though with Hunt intercepting a threat in the 14th minute and Brajan Staszkowicz executing a vital tackle to prevent a scoring chance in the 20th minute.
Alex Maoneo tested the opposition goalkeeper with a saved effort in the 21st minute before Dortmund made a double substitution at the 22nd minute mark, bringing on Yasin Mohammed for Sonic Leung and Finley Barlow for Inno Maoneo, signalling a tactical shift.
The breakthrough for Dortmund came in the 29th minute when Favour Ajumobi headed home from a corner expertly delivered by Noah Rule, restoring parity and igniting Dortmund’s momentum. Sonic Leung’s defensive contribution was notable again in the 31st minute with a crucial tackle to halt a Panthers’ attack.
Just before the first half came to an end, Yasin Mohammed’s attempt on goal was just off target in the 34th minute. With the score level, 1-1 at halftime the match was set up for an entertaining second half.
Dortmund started the second half on the front foot and in the 37th minute, Alex Maoneo went on a great run down the left before finishing from the edge of the box with his left foot after a neat short pass from Noah Rule. Rule continued to create chances from midfield, including a through ball in the 38th minute, though Mohammed’s subsequent efforts was wide.
Dortmund continued to apply pressure and Yasin Mohammed shot in the 39th minute was well saved by the opposition keeper.
Dortmund's persistents finally paid off with them extending their lead in the 41st minute when Alex Maoneo struck again, similar finish to his first goal another long-range left-footed strike assisted by Zac Humphries-Deveney. Shortly after, further substitutions were made with Inno Maoneo replacing Brajan Staszkowicz and Sonic Leung returning for Humphries-Deveney at the 43rd minute.
Goalkeeper Zac Leach, who had moved into goal for Kamsy, made a confident catch in the 45th minute, helping to maintain Dortmund’s control. Defensive efforts from Lawrence Nwakamma and Archie Hunt, both making crucial tackles to deny Atherton Town Panthers chances in the 49th and 52nd minutes respectively.
At the 54th minute, Dortmund made two substitutions, Brajan Staszkowicz returned for Finley Barlow, and Zac Humphries-Deveney replaced the Archie Hunt. Alex Maoneo remained a constant threat, forcing a save in the 55th minute before scoring his third goal of the match in the 56th minute with a left-footed finish inside the box, assisted by Favour Ajumobi’s precise cross.
Shortly after, Archie Hunt returned to the field replacing Noah Rule at the 57th minute, while Zac Leach made a vital parry in the 58th minute to keep his clean sheet intact. Defensive solidity was further reinforced by Inno Maoneo and Finley Barlow with well-timed tackles in the 61st and 66th minutes.
The final substitutions saw Noah Rule and Finley Barlow reintroduced in place of Alex Maoneo and Inno Maoneo respectively in the 63rd minute, allowing fresh legs to close out the game.
Tiki Taka Dortmund’s comprehensive 4-1 victory was spearheaded by the outstanding performance of Alex Maoneo, who netted a hat-trick on his team debut and was deservedly named player of the match. Also a mention to Noah Rule who's passes and crosses created numerous opportunities for the attackers. Their tactical discipline, combined with clinical finishing and resolute defending, ensured a convincing win on the road at Atherton Town FC.
