Tiki Taka Dortmund travelled to Moss Park Stadium for their first league game of the season on 12th September 2026, against Breightmet United Tycoons, kicking off at 10:30am. In a pulsating 70-minute contest, Dortmund emerged victorious with a 3-2 scoreline, securing all three points in a tightly contested encounter.

Deploying a classic 4-3-3 formation, Tiki Taka Dortmund set up with Kamsy Anajemba guarding the goal. The back four consisted of Kain Woodside at right back, Lawrence Nwakamma and Ayo Bamgboye as central defenders, and Nathen Platt on the left flank. The midfield trio featured Noah Rule on the right, Mustafa Farag centrally, and Yasin Mohammed on the left, tasked with both defensive duties and creative support. Up front, the attacking trio comprised Sonic Leung on the right wing, Favour Ajumobi leading the line as striker, and Brajan Staszkowicz operating on the left wing. The substitutes available were Nikita Velicka, Oscar Manders, Andrew-Franz Nkemka, Zac Humphries-Deveney, and Seka Sewagudde.

Right from the early stages, Yasin Mohammed demonstrated his vision with a long key pass in the fourth minute, creating a chance that Sonic Leung promptly attempted to convert, though his effort was comfortably saved. Just two minutes later, the visitors took the lead when right back Kain Woodside capitalised inside the box, firing home a low driven shot with his right foot which the opposition keeper failed to deal with to put Dortmund ahead.

The defensive unit quickly showed their mettle as Lawrence Nwakamma cleared danger in the seventh minute, followed by a confident catch from Anajemba in goal a minute later. Mustafa Farag’s timely tackle at the ninth minute prevented a promising opportunity for the hosts, underscoring Dortmund’s defensive resilience.

Brajan Staszkowicz tested the opposition again in the 11th minute but shot wide, while Favour Ajumobi’s saved attempt two minutes later kept the Tycoons in the game. The visitors doubled their advantage in the 14th minute thanks to an own goal from Breightmet United Tycoons, a keeping error that left the home side stunned.

Brajan Staszkowicz continued to press, forcing a save in the 16th minute after another chance created by Yasin Mohammed’s long pass. Moments later, Dortmund’s third goal arrived from a well-delivered corner by Noah Rule, which Favour Ajumobi headed home from close range in the 17th minute.

The defence remained alert as Nwakamma won a crucial header in the 18th minute and Bamgboye intercepted a dangerous move in the 20th, preventing further chances for the Tycoons. However, the home side pulled one back in the 23rd minute, signalling a fightback.

At the 25th minute mark, Dortmund made a triple substitution: Nikita Velicka replaced Favour Ajumobi, Oscar Manders came on for Nathen Platt, and Andrew-Franz Nkemka took over from Sonic Leung, signalling a tactical shift. Anajemba was called into action again with a parry at 27 minutes, while Noah Rule’s tackle a minute later helped maintain control.

Breightmet United Tycoons reduced the deficit further with an unfortunate deflection that left the Dortmund keeper no chance in the 29th minute, making it a nervy affair for Dortmund. Shortly after, further changes saw Zac Humphries-Deveney replace Yasin Mohammed and Seka Sewagudde come on for Kain Woodside at the 30-minute mark. Sewagudde promptly cleared danger in the 33rd minute, helping to steady the ship.

The half concluded at 35 minutes, with Dortmund holding a slender lead. Early in the second half, Mustafa Farag struck the crossbar in the 38th minute, narrowly missing a chance to extend the lead. Oscar Manders contributed defensively with a vital tackle in the 40th minute, while Zac Humphries-Deveney’s high attempt in the 42nd minute and Andrew-Franz Nkemka’s saved effort in the 43rd minute kept the pressure on the Tycoons.

At 45 minutes, Yasin returned to the pitch replacing the tiring Mustafa, while Noah Rule’s shot was saved at 46 minutes. Dortmund's defensive work remained crucial, exemplified by a strong tackle from Yasin Mohammed in the 48th minute. Andrew-Franz Nkemka was substituted off for Sonic Leung at 50 minutes, restoring some attacking impetus.

Zac Humphries-Deveney hit the crossbar again in the 52nd minute with a left footed strike, while Nikita Velicka’s well worked shot was brilliantly blocked by the Breightmet defenders at 54 minutes. A well taken Breightmet free kick saw a full-stretch save by Anajemba at 55 minutes to kept the visitors in control. The 60th minute saw a flurry of substitutions as Mustafa Farag, Kain Woodside, and Favour Ajumobi all returned to the field, replacing Zac Humphries-Deveney, Oscar Manders, and Nikita Velicka respectively.

Lawrence Nwakamma’s crucial tackle in the 63rd minute and Ayo Bamgboye’s defensive intervention at 68 minutes ensured Dortmund’s lead was protected as the match approached its conclusion. Despite several saved and blocked attempts from the forwards, Tiki Taka Dortmund held firm to claim a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

Noah Rule’s consistent performance in midfield, both in attack and defence, earned him the player of the match accolade, highlighting his vital contribution to Dortmund’s success at Moss Park Stadium.

Despite the lack of pre season games this season, the team gave a good account of themselves today and showed good resilience when they needed too. Always good to start with a win but I know there's more to come from this team.
