Unique FC U13 3 vs 2 Danson Sports U13

Afternoon chaps,

Please see my report from Sunday’s game.

Lads mixed emotions on Sunday, delighted with the three points BUT I think from a performance perspective there’s a lot of things we could have done better.

We got the early goal with great work from Lemar latching onto a pass from Max & if I’m honest & I think you boys as well we completely took our foot off the gas, make no bones about it Danson we’re not great at all but as a team over the last couple of weeks the intensity we have played at up until the cup final is lacking & we need to get it back quickly with the run of games we have coming up, too many times we are ‘token pressing’ getting caught on the ball or making rash decisions, let’s relax in possession of the ball lads, get a picture and make good decisions with QUALITY.

The game was built for us to play with intensity, moving around the back & out the other side isolating the wingers 1v1 but too many times we were caught in possession or wasn’t/didn’t have the correct body shape when the ball came into us to move the ball quickly, we have done lots of work on this chaps & will again this Friday ahead of Fisher on Sunday.

We scored from two wonderful set piece deliveries from Bailey which was very pleasing as we have dried up in that area in recent weeks but if we are being honest chaps it should have scored 8 by half time, we won’t get the opportunity on Sunday to pass up that many chances so have to get that clinical/ruthless streak we saw earlier in the season.

The second half was much of the same of us camped in Danson’s half but lacking that cutting edge to really carve them open, all be it I felt we played with better intensity all over the pitch in patches & again missed some wonderful opportunities.

Defensively I just want to reiterate fullbacks starting positions, you boys must offer cover when long balls are coming in chaps, too many times in particularly in the first half we were caught way too high up the pitch meaning Billy and Theo were getting drawn out into wide areas, the moment it breaks down you need to bust a gut to get back in!

Massive game this weekend chaps against top of the table & we must finish in that top 6 to nail down the KYL north status for next season.
