Bromley U13 1 vs 2 Unique FC U13

Afternoon chaps,

Another wonderful win/performance Sunday please find below my report!

Lads what a run & I felt on Sunday we showed loads of different sides to our game.

Make no mistake about it Bromley were bang up for it, but as we said before, so were we, I didn’t expect anything differently, they set up in a 3-5-1-1 & in the early stages they caused us problems, wingers were not bad at all, but once we got to grips with distances between wingers and fullbacks passing players on & we settled into the game after 15 mins I thought we took over!

We started to settle on the ball & had some good phases of play particularly with our full backs feeding Bailey & eventually found the breakthrough with another set piece, what a finish that was Bill, you seem to be finding a habit of scoring in the BIG games & I thought your all round performance was tremendous. Well done!

After that lads I thought we managed the rest of the first half well, although I’m going to question us for probably the first time from corners defensively, we were ALL at sea & had Oscar not had made 2 wonderful saves & Billy clearing one off the line it could have been a different story, you all get given your jobs before the game, let’s make sure we do not have that again!

The second half started in the same vein, we were pinned in for the first 10 mins as Bromley made changes and went more direct which we stood up too very well, at times we were more a 4-5-1 then a 4-3-3 which was recognised by the wingers, Kai & Bailey your work out of possession was excellent & Chazza P when you came on I thought you was outstanding coming into a game like that and playing as well as you did, great work!

We rode the pressure which we were expecting to be fair lads & found the second with a long throw from Theo & Bailey anticipating at the back post, great finish & the game under total control then as they began to whinge on the pitch, tears & on the side, I loved how we carried ourselves & didn’t rise to any provocation, it was a proper Unique performance.

My one negative lads is that after we got that second goal I felt we could have really killed the game, we took the sting out of it wonderfully well, but there was too many times we made the wrong decision or took the extra touch under strong pressure, top players embrace that & still move the ball quickly and make good decisions, felt we wanted to win so badly we started acting erratically in possession, relax and look after the ball!

For me the goal they get is a foul & kicks it out of your hands Oscar but we won’t dwell on that too much as we saw the game out with absolute ease & we were good value for the win!

Loads of positives but I really want to challenge us now to look after the ball in the final third, we are going to do some work on that this week in training, if we can marry up our desire, organisation, heart & spirit in the group with that quality on the ball we have a real chance to continue to be successful!
