Unique FC U13 4 vs 4 Erith & Belvedere U13

Afternoon boys,

Chaps I’m going to be honest I was very disappointed with the performance on Sunday, I thought we were very very lethargic for long periods of the game which is something I haven’t had to say about this group for quite some time.

We went 1-0 up with a wonderful finish from Leon & should after that have taken control of the game, without being disrespectful I though Erith were really poor & had we have been at it, both in and out of possession we could have put them to the sword, they equalised with a soft goal in my opinion, DESIRE to close crosses was not there & again we turned it on for 5 mins and got the second when Leon slipped in Lemar to score with a neat finish.

It didn’t take away from I’ll be honest a little bit of a hammering I gave you at half time lads, I thought we were going through the motions & we started the second half really well, sharper to the ball, spotting and playing, winning duels & went 3-1 up when Lemar latched on to a long ball from Theo & slotted home, but after that lads, we totally again took our foot off the gas.. 5 minutes of absolute madness followed, not clearing our lines, our shape all over the place and within the blink of a eye were 4-3 down, I cannot stress enough boys this group is built on structure, a good shape & hard to break down, we cannot be conceding 4 goals in games and expect to be winning them & I want to stress going into the run of games we have now, we will be punished and will not be a route back into the game.

When we are in the lead I need calm heads, players that will look after the ball, take the sting out of it, at no point on Sunday did we have control and that is something we have been so good at.

The mad 5 mins snapped us back into life & some wonderful play from Stanley off the bench allowed Leon again to score a wonderful goal & I felt we would go on to win it, all be it I still don’t think we had control in the game, just for me looked like a team that finally realised there was not long left to get the 3 points!

All be it boys that’s 8 games unbeaten now, but I want to stress, complacency’s & low intensity will result in a drop off in results, remember how hard we have worked to have the run of form we are in, having said that, you are 12/13 years old so a ‘off’ day is going to happen, let’s make sure we do not have another one like that for a while!

Doniel I thought you was excellent on Sunday well done & Stanley a great impact from the bench your attitude has been excellent & made a massive difference when you came on!
