Afternoon boys,
Well done Saturday I thought it was a really positive start to the season but we are very aware tougher tests are to come.
We set up in a 4–1-4-1 and i really enjoyed how much we played through the middle third in the first 40 mins of the game, we got Ethan, Leon, Bailey & Henry on the half turn in some great areas of the pitch & I think my only criticism is it should have been 5-0 by around 20 mins. We won’t always have that luxury to have that many attacking minded players on the pitch but Saturday was the perfect opportunity to do this.
Noah I thought you done well but I really want you to nail down that pass completion/retention this year, a solid start.
I thought we pressed extremely well and Lewisham’s naivety to continue to try and play out from the back despite us nicking the ball numerous times played into our hands perfectly & we created chance after chance.
The back 4 I thought were excellent in firstly stepping in with the ball and making good decisions in possession, but also out of possession we looked really compact and aggressive, Thomas I thought you was tremendous at Right back and when you played at Right centre back later in the game, a really solid debut for you mate.
I felt after 60 mins we really tired lads, it’s a big old pitch and I felt some of you began to flag, so I felt it was a blessing we didn’t have a game the following day to allow you to recover but we won’t have that much this season so how you look after yourself/recovery between fixtures is going to be massively important.
I felt we looked drilled from set plays which was pleasing after we went through these pre-game, as we did over our own set plays, some really bright 2 v 1’s and a wonderful finish from you Theo!
Congrats on the hat-trick Henry really important you kick on from that!
Lads on the whole a very satisfying start to life in the JPL, but we know we have an awful lot more to come in the coming weeks.
2 big games this weekend so let’s be ready.
I’ll see you on Thursday 5pm
Cheers H
