A confident Warley took to the Club Dudley stage full of hope of building on the 7-1 win over Brandhall last week. Club Dudley had only won one game this season but had a hungry squad of 17 players to choose from whereas Coach Jones had the luxury of fourteen fit players in what promised to be an entertaining match.

Both teams played attacking football but were equally guilty of missing numerous chances. Sam S. hit the bar on 14 minutes and the deadlock was broken in the  17th minute as Junior Shoker’s trademark ‘one brill goal per season’ shot swept over the goal keeper from 25 yrds to nestle into the net. Club Dudley 0 Warley Boro 1. Dudley hit back and within two minutes were awarded a dubious penalty which was squirmed by the opposition as the ball flashed past the left post. On 24 minutes Byron battled he’s way through on the right before whipping in a low cross for Dan W to slot home Club Dudley 0 Warley Boro 2 Warley continued to dominate with the ever industrious Sam S. supplying super shooter Dan W. on 29 minutes who shot low to created the half time score line Club Dudley 0 Warley Boro 3.

The half time interval came and the boys were in buoyant mood. A clean sheet was on the horizon and more goals the order of the day. Byron was put upfront alongside Sam S and more chances were created as the two gelled instantly. Their reward was in the 41st minute as Sam set up Byron who’s run from inside he’s own half was powerful and direct and ended with the ball rippling the net. Club Dudley 0 Warley Boro 4. The clean sheet was forgotten on 47 minutes as a Dudley free kick floated into the Warley box and to an unmarked junior who made no mistake from 8 yards Club Dudley 1 Warley Boro 4  4-1 up and the Warley boys were cruising, or so they thought. On 50 minutes it was Warley’s turn to miss a penalty as Sam S was fouled and duly missed from 12 yrds after a great save by the keeper who then produced another two outstanding saves. This keeper was playing central defence for most of the match and replaced the normal keeper after 50 minutes. Without he’s efforts Warley would have scored a lot more. The game came to light in the 55th minute. A curious refereeing decision saw Reece penalised in the box for a back pass after being ‘fouled’ by the opposition. Luke duly spoke he’s mind and went into the referee’s book. He’s name is only the third Warley player to ever be booked in the clubs history. From the resulting free kick Dudley blasted the ball home. Club Dudley 2 Warley Boro 4. The incident rattled the boys who were more venerable than normal and switched off as Dudley produced a third goal out of nothing in the 64th minute, a spectacular effort from 25 yards. Club Dudley 3 Warley Boro 4 Warley then gathered composure and managed to see the game out without further incidents. Final score Club Dudley 3 Warley Boro 4

Another good performance worthy of three points. The lads have to be aware of emotions running high when decisions don’t go their way. Discipline is key and so is continuing to focus for the 70 minutes that they are on that pitch for.Warley stay 3rd 2 points behind OW and three behind Mostyn.
