The sun was shining as the Warley boys took to the field today. The visitors were Netherton Colts who are, geographically, the lad’s closest rivals. Pride was at stake as friends became enemies and the scene was set for an enthralling encounter.
Warley were without the grusome twosome Anil and Azza and initial fears were confirmed when the visitors started the scoring after only 20 seconds as indecision and failure to clear the ball led to a well taken Netherton goal. Ironically 20 seconds into the second half and Warley were 4 up as Sam S said goodbye to the memory of he’s penalty miss last week with a fierce penalty after being up ended in the box. Warley moved up to second in the table with this win. They scored 6 and created 14 other attempts on goal. Admittedly Netherton didn’t put up much of a fight but these are the games that you need to win to become worthy title contenders. No clean sheet but everyman played their part.
