Home league match played on 19 February 2012.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Warmsworth finally got to kick a ball in anger for the 1st time in a month after the big freeze had put paid to games and training. The Lions were facing a difficult match against high flying Ordsall and to make matters worse Warmsworth had 5 players missing. One thing the Lions have though is a squad that can adapt and players who are willing and capable of playing anywhere on the pitch and performing to the same high standard. Warmsworth were soon in their stride and had total control of the game. The Lions created some decent openings but just lacked that bit of luck to turn the chances into goals. Ordsall were defending well but offered nothing in the way of an attacking threat. The Lions back four won everything in the air and were always composed and played the ball out with confidence to set up more Lions attacks. Ordsall were happy to see the end of the 1st half with the game still level.

H-T 0-0

Warmsworth came out all guns blazing in the 2nd half and peppered the Ordsall goal, somehow the away keeper managed to keep the Lions frontline at bay. Warmsworth must have felt like they had upset the gods because even with a shot being clearly blocked and handled on the line(certain peno and a sending off must follow)  the referee somehow failed to see it despite every other person in the crowd seeing it!!!!!!! It was looking like Warmsworth were going  to drop 2 vital points despite giving everything. Warmsworth were restricted on how much they could change due to only having the 1 sub, but a subtle change worked immediately when Reece Ibbotson who had been playing at centre-half was pushed through  the middle up front. Reece controlled a high ball and with a delicate pass put the ball into Lyndon Thompsons path and without breaking stride hit a hard low shot into the corner of the net. The Lions fully deserved the breakthrough and came close to adding a 2nd as the Ordsalls defence who had been run ragged tired in the later stages. The Lions keeper had hardly touched the ball the whole game but showed but showed good concentration  and handling taking the ball at the near post after a freekick in a dangerous position was hit over the wall.. Ordsall tried to get something back but just didnt have the craft to engineer a clear opening against a fantastic resolute defence.

F-T 1-0

Man of the Match.... Matty Leese.... fantastic fullback play.. always in right position to defend but also a threat in attack working overtime on the left wing....

Special mention to the whole team... i cant give them enough credit...to play a game after only playing once in 7 weeks,, unable to train and to find yourself going into a game without 3 influential  creative midfielders,, your top  2 scorers and only 1 recognised central defender and to play with the style and confidence they did shows the real quality in the squad this year. THESE ARE THE GAMES THAT WIN YOU TITLES... these 3 points will prove to be vital at the end of the season.....well done to each and every one of you.. you can be proud of yourselves
