Away league match played on 17 January 2009.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

This was the Knights 1st match for many weeks, on a very wet pitch with the sun in their faces.  The Knights were 1st to attack, with good interaction between Courtnage, Doel and Komboni; resulting in Kombonis effort skipping wide of the goal.  Then Haslemere forced their way forward, but their attack was stopped by Tadd, the Knights keeper; a long drop-kick by Tadd released Courtnage down the wing, Courtnage then crossed the ball into the danger zone for Holloway, but the pace on the ball was just too much for Holloway to collect.  Haslemere again fought their way forward but Blackbourn, Choularton and Greenaway kept them at bay, forcing Haslemere to shoot wide.  Komboni took the goal-kick, sending Doel and Holloway forward; Holloway turned a couple of Haslemere defenders before shooting, narrowly missing the goal.  Once again Haslemere kept fighting forward but encountered Choularton, who chased the ball from one end of the pitch to the other, denying Haslemere an opportunity to shoot.  As Blackbourn cleared the ball up-field, Courtnage collected and released Holloway; he quickly nipped past a defender before sending Hooper goal ward, but his effort was well saved by the Haslemere keeper.  As the half continued, both teams were attacking at every opportunity, and one attack by Haslemere left the Knights defence a little exposed; Tadd rushed out to meet the attacker, but a well placed pass found a lone Haslemere attacker bearing down towards goal.  Choularton came to the Knights rescue, clearing the ball off the line, turning defence into attack, allowing Courtnage the opportunity to strike at the Haslemere goal: however, his effort was cleared off their line.  On another Knights attack, Hooper made space for a shot on goal but this was cleared by the Haslemere defence, Choularton intercepted the clearance and had an attempt himself, bringing off a good save from the Haslemere keeper.  Haslemere then rallied around and found themselves deep in the Knights half of the pitch, forcing Tadd to save and push the ball away for a corner.  Choularton again, in his defensive role, made quick work of clearing this dangerous corner up-field giving Powell a chance of scoring, but his effort went just wide.  From the resulting goal-kick, Greenaway intercepted and quickly sent Choularton goal-ward; his effort on goal brought off a good save by the Haslemere keeper, but he was unable to hold onto the ball; 1st to react was Courtnage, and without hesitating, he slotted home the Knights opening goal.  As the half was drawing to a close, the Knights had a few more attempts on goal, but the Haslemere defence held strong.

As the 2nd half got underway, Haslemere attacked first, forcing the play but shooting wide.  As the Knights replied, a quickly taken throw-in by Komboni allowed Holloway a shooting chance, but his effort was saved.  Haslemere again came forward, an attempt on goal stopped just short of the goal line because of the water logged pitch; Blackbourn reacted quickly, clearing the ball away.  Komboni took control of the ball and headed towards the Haslemere goal, passing to Doel, who nipped past a defender before releasing Holloway, whose shot sailed just over the bar.  Then came a series of shoots by Hooper, Powell and Doel, but each time they were denied a goal by the Haslemere keeper and defence.  On another Knights attack, Komboni cleared up-field for Powell to chase, he in turn release Doel, who skilfully rounded a defender before firing home the Knights 2nd goal of the match.  As the match had only minutes remaining, Haslemere never stopped trying, forcing the Knights to defend until the final whistle; when the match ended, the manager had an easy choice for man of the match, and this was awarded to Choularton because of the dedication he showed throughout the entire match; defending excellently and also nearly scoring on a couple of occasions.
