The team was founded in 2009 by a group of friends who wanted to play football together. They started out playing in the Dundee Sunday Morning League, but moved to the Dundee Saturday Morning League in 2011.
Bridgend Athletic FC have won the Dundee Saturday Morning League title twice, in 2013 and 2015. They have also reached the final of the Dundee Saturday Morning League Cup on three occasions, but have never won it.
The team's home ground is at the Dens Park astroturf pitches in Dundee.
