Crawley Town Football Club

Crawley Town Football Club is a professional association football club based in the town of Crawley, West Sussex, England. The club was founded as Crawley Football Club in 1896, changed its name to Crawley Town Football Club in 1958. The team compete in EFL League Two, the fourth tier of the English football league system. The club has played home games at Broadfield Stadium since 1997 and are nicknamed the "Reds" or "Red Devils" due to the colour of their kit.

History

Founded in 1896, Crawley helped to found the West Sussex League later that year before transferring to the Mid-Sussex League.
The club won the Mid-Sussex League in 1907 and 1910, and the West Sussex League in 1922 and 1923.
Crawley Town joined the Isthmian League in 1928, and won the league in 1958.
The club were promoted to the Southern League in 1959, and won the league in 1978.
Crawley Town were promoted to the Football League for the first time in 1995, and played in the Third Division (now League Two) until 2004.
The club were promoted to League One in 2004, but were relegated back to League Two in 2007.
Crawley Town reached the FA Cup third round in 2011, and the FA Trophy final in 2013.

League Two is the fourth tier of the English football league system. It is currently sponsored by Sky Bet and is known as the Sky Bet League Two. The league consists of 24 teams, and each team plays each other twice, once at home and once away. The top two teams at the end of the season are promoted to League One, and the bottom four teams are relegated to National League.
