More about the team

ELMER FC were formed in 2007 by a number of local lads from the Elmer and Felpham area.

2009/2010

Elmer FC now look forward to this season, playing in Division 2 of a re-structured Chichester & West Sussex Sunday Football League.

A number of our players have decided to move on this season: Luke Herbert, Dex Cons, Gareth Henderson to name just three. We wish them all the best at their new clubs. We are also going to have to manage without Chris Woodman for at least the majority of this season. Chris has had varios troubles with his back and needs to take some time out to get this sorted once and for all.

On a positive note we expect to unveil a few new players with Lewis Smith being just the first to commit to Elmer. Watch this space for updates as our pre-season unfolds.

2008/2009

The 2008/09 season began with a touch of strengthening and tweaking we entered into it with a great expectation. The greatest prize of all though being able to watch the young guns improve week on week. They are frightenly beginning to mature into a band of fine young men!

As the season has progressed we have consistently been in the top five, actually topping the table for a while in October. We gave the Rocks another scare, battering them for 85 minutes but losing 2-1 as they mauled us for the first five minutes of the second half. We should have grabbed a point with a last ditch equaliser but Moore in the Rocks goal pulled off a fine save. Remember though, the Rocks still have to play us at King George's. (That match ultimately was won 1-0 by the Rocks in a match soured by their complete lack of respect for match officials)

Sunday March 8th 2009 saw us notch up our record win, 8-0 v Longsocks with goals from Kyle Belcher (2), Ryan Meager (2), Nick Eardley (2), Jack Davis and Steve Nanson.

We have had some ups and downs with personnel. Some still finding it hard to understand the tougher world of adult football and the fact that it is actually impossible for more than 11 to be picked for a starting lin-up! Those disappointed either have to realise its down to them to work harder in training, wait their next opportunity and grab it or sit back back, moan, blame others (manager included) and generally feel hard done by.

Despite such setbacks, as a group we continue to thrive. We are blessed with many fine characters in our Club, both young and not so! We have what must be called a strong dressing room. We have no tossers!

An average last month of the season saw defeats to both Sunday Rocks and Angmering 2nds leaving us to finish in a creditable, but maybe disappointing 4th place. Hey, being a little disappointed at 4th place after 8th last year must prove how we have improved as a unit! We now await the League AGM on 23rd June to find out we where we will be playing next season. Third and Fourth places sometimes find themselves going up following club drop-outs during the Summer months so who knows. If we remain in Division 3 we'll be in for an exciting season, if it's Division 2 we'll face this sterner challenge head on and do our very best.

ELMER FC were awarded the accolade of MOST SPORTING CLUB at the C & WSSFL's recent AGM. Team Manager Colin Davis said ' We are very proud of this achievement in what was only our second season. This awarded is based upon scores awarded by Match Officials throughout the season, so in this first season of the FA's Respect programme it means so much more. It is also especially pleasing to have won this award during a season where we proved to be more competitive, improving our final position from 8th to 4th, thereby proving that you can play a more combative style without losing that sporting touch!'

2007/2008

ELMER FC were formed in 2007 by a number of local lads from the Elmer and Felpham area.Add into that young breed a mixture of age and experience and gradually over the 2007/08 season we bonded, got it together and finished the season in fine style by denying the ever, over confident Rocks the promotion only they thought they deserved with a fine 3-1 victory!
