More about the team
Formed in 2003, Matalan and Diamonds were formed out of staff at the Lincoln Matalan store (098). Since then many of those staff have moved on to other workplaces but remained as the core of the team. Over the years the team has been added to be current Matalan employees and other local players.
The team spent most of their early years playing friendlies against other local team including Asda, Sainsburys and Clayton's Carpets. In 2008, the team joined the North Kesteven Sunday Leisure Leagues, finishing bottom in their debut season. The league was then relocated to Yarborough Sports Centre where the club enjoyed many seasons of competetive football. The team gained promotion from the First Division and then finshed safely midtable in their first season of Premier Division football. The team were eventually relegated but regained promotion at the first time of asking. In their second season back in the top flight, the Diamond achieved their best ever finish, third.
In early 2013, with the team recuiting younger, more talented players, the club left Leisure Leagues and moved to a more local league, Lincoln Soccer Sixes, at Rustons Sports Club.

Current Season
The team are currently in their 6th season in the Lincoln Soccer Sixes. They finished 5th in the league last season and are hoping to challenge for the title this year.
The team has a strong squad with a good mix of experience and youth. They are led by captain Jake Read, who is a talented striker.
The team also has a number of other experienced players, including David Dickinson, Ross Mcluckie and Nick Cooper.
The team is managed by Mark Smith, who is a former professional footballer.
Lincoln Soccer Sixes
The Lincoln Soccer Sixes is a 6-a-side football league that is played at Rustons Sports Club in Lincoln. The league is open to teams of all abilities and is a great way to get involved in football.
The league is played on a Sunday afternoon and there are 10 teams in the league. The season runs from September to May.
The current champions are The A-Team.
