More about the team

The Cosmos's Journey

The club was formed on a cold bleak day in the depths of winter by Ben Gundy, James Blair-Pilling and Andrew Rushby. They agreed in principal to start their own team with the hope of becoming a force in the Seoul Saturday Soccer League. They also hoped to fill that void between Friday night and Saturday night.

The Team Name: The origins of the name are surrounded in mystery as the creator has refused to clarify how he came up with the name. However, there are three plausible theories:

1. A tribute to the New York Cosmos who played with style and finesse during the 1970's.

2. A tribute to Cosmo Bisazza

3. The name Cosmos is short for 'cosmopolitan' and he believed this reflected the make up of the team.

The truth is that it was probably a combination of all three and had nothing to do with the cocktail of the same name.

The Badge: The badge was created using the original New York Cosmos badge as an inspiration. The colours were chosen to represent the traditional colours associated with Korea.

The Team Colours: The original team colours: Maroon shirt with gold trim. Navy blue shorts with gold piping and maroon socks.
